A tour of scenic North India

Business Administrations students enjoyed the sights and sounds of North India as part of their department tour

The Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) Department of Don Bosco College recently
had their departmental tour. The journey began with a long, yet wonderful train
travel to Chandigarh, passing through the countryside of different states,
where they were mesmerised to see the scenic beauty of our country.

With an evening for leisure on the day of arrival, the tour
started with a visit to the marvellous Pinjore garden and Rock garden and the
beautiful ‘Sukhna lake’. Moving ahead into the evening, students proceeded to
the Wagah Border. It was a hot, sunny afternoon, but that was no deterrent for
the hundreds of people who were heading there for the lowering of the flags
ceremony. From Bollywood numbers like ‘Chak de India’ and ‘Suno gaur se
duniyawalon’ playing in the background to shouts of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and
‘Hindustan Zindabad’, from being able to see people sitting on the other side
and wondering what must be going on in their heads and hearts, to the powerful
show put up by the BSF and Pakistan Rangers, the day was amazing, to say the
least.

Next day, the journey progressed to the Golden Temple in
Amritsar. It does not take long to become immersed in the vibrating spirit of
consciousness at the temple compound. The ‘sewadars’ (volunteers at the
Gurdwara) emanate selfless service, thus making every interaction a meeting
with God. Hundreds of men, women and children go about the many chores of
cleaning, cooking and caring with a merry energy at this temple. Students also
visited the Jallianwala Bagh, a place we learnt of early in our education.

The
next destination was Manali and all paid their visit to the Hadimba Temple,
Manu Temple, Old Manali village which gave the true essence of Manali. The part
that had everyone excited was the excursion to the snow point. The highlight of
the trip was the exhilarating white water river rafting ride at a pit stop in
Kullu on the way to Shimla. During this trip to Kufri, students enjoyed a
wonderful horseback ride and various adventure activities. After a tiring day
full of activities, a refreshing walk on the mall road and a visit to the
famous Shimla church brought the energy right back up for the journey back to
Chandigarh to board the train back to Goa. A journey that started with
expecting the unknown concluded with beautiful memories for all of us.
