ADDING MUSIC TO THE GAME

After the successful anthem song for the FC Goa matches, ‘Ole Ola Forca Goa’, Omkar H and Edmund Gomes are back with a new music video to cheer the FC Goa team to victory

Anthems and
team songs add to the spirit of the
sport and this holds true for the latest FC Goa song produced by
Omkar H, musician and founding member of FC Goa Fan Club, and Edmund Gomes.
Their song, ‘Tiki-Taka (Vamos Goa)’, will be having its video launch in the
presence of top FC Goa players.

Omkar is from Vasco-da-Gama and runs OMI Tunes while Edmund is
from Sanguem and goes by the stage name EDM Gomes. Their first song was ‘Ole
Ola Viva Forca Goa’, which received tremendous response. “The response to ‘Ole
Ola Viva Forca Goa’ was amazing. It was dedicated to FC Goa and was originally
done by Frederick Menezes, Gavin Fernandes and I, together known as ‘Kollectiv
Soul’. It was then Rio-mixed because of the Brazilian influence on the team
last year. We got many compliments with most of them saying that our song was
actually the only song whose lyrics made sense as a football song,” says Omkar.

‘Tiki-Taka (Vamos
Goa)’ has a chorus with a Spanish twist, dedicated to the Spanish players in FC
Goa. The video features stars like Ferran ‘Coro’ Corominas, Mandar Rao Dessai,
Bruno Pinheiro, Laxmikant Kattimani, etc as well as some well know faces like
RJ Joed and Carlos Gonsalves, whose voices and beats reverberate through
Fortress Fatorda on every match day.

Speaking about how
they were inspired to write this song, Edmund says, “We always want to put out
something different. Our experience working with bands inspired us to come up
with something that suited our culture and was catchy at the same time. The
verses were inspirational whereas for the chorus, we’ve tried to keep it catchy
and easy to sing.”

As for the name of
the song, Omkar explains, “Since the start of the season, there was a buzz
going around their style of play, with short passes and attack, which is
exactly what the Spanish term ‘Tiki-Taka’ means.” The song is largely in
English with some Konkani words in the chorus and a couple of Spanish terms.
The song calls upon all Goans to join in the football revolution, which has
seen a slump in the last few years.

The
video has been directed by Franky Fernandes from Ponda and Lester Fernandes
from Nagoa and will be released on Youtube and Facebook via media partners FC
Goa Fan Club and Goa Football Live. “Initially, we had plans to make the video
on a smaller budget. But when one of our cinematographer friends heard the
song, he suggested that since the song was very good, we should carry out the
shoot professionally. Everyone was very cooperative and we finished the full
shoot within two days. There’s a shot of almost all the players training but
Ferran ‘Coro’ Corominas, Mandar Rao Dessai, Bruno Pinheiro and Laxmikant
Kattimani have done their signature moves for the video. “We have incorporated
simple hand moves for the chorus, which we hope will be followed by everyone at
the stadium and as well as whenever the song is played,” concludes Omkar.
