Three friends from Goa rode their bikes to complete 10,000 kilometres, touching 21
cities in 27 days. The three Goans – Rohit Mehta, Maxie Lewis and Karl Coelho,
all businessmen, had left and arrived from the same spot, Bambolicho Khuris
(the Cross of Bambolim).
“Riding a Harley Davidson along the border
from East India up to the North India and then from West India back to Goa is
an experience like no other! Three buddies, 27 days, 10,000 kms, this is a
memory we will cherish for a life time,” says Rohit Mehta.
The trio, went from Goa to Hyderabad and
back, via Visakapatnam, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Malda, Gangtok, Guwahati,
Kaziranga, Cherrapunji, Siliguri, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Agra, New Delhi,
Dehradun, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmadabad, Surat and Mumbai.
“It was a long yet thrilling ride covering
some picturesque places and meeting some awesome people,” says Rohit.
All three riders are part of the Harley
Owners’ Group (HOG), Goa and each have done several long distance trips and it
is the brotherhood and support and encouragement they receive from Harley
Owners’ Group (HOG) across the country that have propelled them to achieve
these tough but thrilling feats. The trio are achievers of Big 5 in 2017,
albeit at different times. In 2018, there were 100 persons in India who did
this and the trio are among them .
“We were given the most hospitable treatment by the Harley
Davidson dealerships wherever we stopped, and Harley and non Harley riders too,
a huge thanks to them. We are also thankful for the prayers and support from
our Harley family and well wishers,” adds Rohit.
If you speak to any of the Harley Davidson riders in Goa, they
all unanimously hail the Goa HOG Chapter for its spirit of brotherhood and the
Goa chapter has won many accolades and awards on the national HOG front. HOG
Goa is also known for carrying out several rides across the state and it is not
so much about the fun and speed only, with the group laying emphasis on
following safety protocols and spreading the message of safe riding. Group
members have also done several trips across countries and not just India alone.
While
Rohit has a lot of similar plans in the future, the group is buoyed by its
growing numbers and excited about the fact that are representing the state on
the World Harley’s Map.
