They mesmerise with their on stage performance and online, they
present foot tapping dance numbers like ‘Sao Joao’, ‘Konkani Uloi’ and the most
viral song of the season, ‘Urrack’. DnT, the band is formed by Denzil Pereira
and Trisca Fernandes and has been a part of the entertainment industry in Goa
for over 15 years. The ‘Urrack’ song was released two years back and keeping
with the trend of releasing songs that are relevant to the times, the band
decided to release a second version of the song but a completely different
track with just the same title.
“The first Urrack song was written on the
process of making Urrack which had a very nostalgic vibe to it and we had kept
the rhythm on a very folk style with a mix of modern beats. In fact, the song
caught up so well and we were flooded with very positive support from our
well-wishers. It has been used by a lot of people on their social media
platform, reels, and documentaries or as background scores. We were quite
spellbound and decided to come up with Urrack 2.0,” says Denzil.
Speaking about the different between both the songs, Trisca
explains, “The previous ‘Urrack’ song was very spontaneous, from writing of the
song to creating the melody and producing the video. But for this song, we did
take some time to think and concentrate on the colour of our attire or the
concept to keep more simple and colourful. By god’s grace, we as a team are
blessed with spontaneity and practical decision making, which is the key to our
core points of putting out our talent. From penning down our original lyrics to
composing, creating and producing our music to the people, its team effort and
we do really focus on our thought process and creativity.”
She further adds, “It took us about less than a month for this
song. Composing the song is an equal effort. We suggest an idea and together we
start working on building the structure, writing the lyrics, melody to
finalising the rhythm of the song and getting our song ready with the audio
production. Once the song is done, we work on the concept of the video, as in
the location, the look, the attire to suit song. We do have discussions and we
come up with a compatible conclusion to the release of our song.”
Denzil also elaborates on how the two work together on creating
catchy numbers, “Generally for any song, we start on a topic and we try to give
ourselves a target line to finish it as we believe if we don’t put out our
songs in time, the taste of listeners is not going to be the same. Things
change every day, sounds evolve and choice of people listening to music keep
swinging. As a process, we come up with a topic and then take a day to pen down
a song, downsizing it to the required content and composing the tune, producing
the music and working on the visuals so the whole process takes less than a
month. Apart from creating our own songs we are also busy with our
performances, be it in Goa or travelling nationally or internationally which
sometimes delays our releases. Even if we are travelling to different places
for our gigs, we do carry our work along and try to work on our deadline and
also we try to keep evolving with newer content and ideas. We believe in the
concept of no excuses and that’s what we follow.”
The response has been extremely good and the viewership is
continuously rising and this is what helps and motivates artistes to work more
and be in a positive zone of creating more songs. “We are flooded with messages
on our Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp and YouTube which speaks about the
acceptance and response of the song. Every month, we get messages from our
followers and well-wishers asking us about our future releases and their
eagerness inspires us further,” says Denzil.
“As this song is more dynamic in its own way and we were quite
positive of the response to this song as well. Statically speaking, the first
song was a viral song but I feel even this song is going in the similar
direction as we are getting a lot of forwards from people of our own songs. We
know that the reach of the song is genuine and organic. Another humbling
experience is getting clicked and with people in their selfies in public places
due to the response and the reach of our songs. It makes us feel that our
efforts of working towards our music is truly justified,” says Trisca.
DnT
promises that their next song is very different from the rest of their songs
and a new song will be out soon.
