Carmelite Deacon Jason Francis Coutinho was ordained a priest by the Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão at the Eucharistic Celebration held at the Carmelite Monastery Margao. Provincial Superior of the Karnataka-Goa Province of the Order of the Discalced Carmelite Fr. George Santhumayor, Superior of the Divine Springs Retreat Centre, Xellim Fr. Alvito Fernandes. Parish Priest of Our Lady of Grace Church, Margao Fr. Joe Rodrigues, Deacon Babusha Rodrigues and 35 other priests concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration. “Abide in My Love” was a theme of the Eucharistic Celebration.
Explaining the role of priest, the Archbishop said that the Priest is the Minister of the Word of God, Minister of the Sacraments and a humble servant. “As a Minister of the Word of God, a priest needs to listen to it, proclaim it and witness it in life.” Said the Prelate.
The Archbishop requested the faithful to pray for the Priests and Religious.
Fr. Silvestre D’Souza, Superior of the Carmelite Monastery Margao was the commentator while Fr.Macson Dabre, Director of the Students at the Carmelite Seminary, Mapusa, along with the Carmelite Seminarians animated the Liturgy.
