Are Goans united to fight social issues?

The curtains unfold to a scene wherein the Home Minister
Coutinho (Eliterio) is seen in his cabin along with his PA Tony (Johnny).
People wait outside in a queue to put forth their grievances. The minister
listens patiently to each of the grievances with assurances to resolve them at
the earliest. But as each step out of the cabin, Coutinho checks out with his
PA if assistance will benefit him in anyway, especially during the elections.

Among those at the minister’s door is social worker Rocky
(Ulhas Tari), who places before the minister three issues, namely illegal
bungalow at Old Goa, MPT coal handling and Mhadei issue. And he seeks
resolution within a specified period of time.

On another occasion, the minister is caught red-handed
accepting bribe from a contractor (Prashant). In the absence of minister, his
son Peter (Rosario de Benaulim) handles the whole show, resulting in
molestation and corruption. What follows next is worth the watch on stage.

Francis de Tuem’s tiatr ‘Social Worker’ dedicated to
activist, late Fr Bismarque Dias, highlights several issues related to Goa and
the Goan community. The so called ‘social workers’ are also brought to light
and exposed in the presentation. Aware of all the sensitive issues haunting
Goans, will Goans come out unitedly and fight against the menace tooth and
nail?

In the main cast, Eliterio stands out as the corrupt home
minister. He is backed by Rosario de Benaulim as his son and Johnny as the PA.
Prashant plays multiple roles confidently. Agusto de Calangute as Gangadar and
belonging to Dhangar community is apt in his dress code. So is Xavier Gomes as
aged Sammy. Antonette de Maina plays the role of a Lamani and is at ease in her
dress and dialogue delivery. Ulhas Tari portrays himself as the social worker
fighting for the cause of Goa and the Goans and he is supported by Vilban.
Peter de Arambol as a priest does justice to his role.

In the category of songs, Peter de Arambol comes for the
opening song, followed by a solo from Xavier Gomes, a befitting tribute to Jose
Rod. There are solos from Rosario de Benaulim, Agusto de Calangute, Antonette
de Maina, besides songs by Agusto and Peter de Arambol, Rosario, Agusto and
Peter de Arambol. A solo by Francis de Tuem and songs by Francis de Tuem and
Antonette de Maina and Xavier, Peter, Agusto and Francis de Tuem receive
encores. One group song on ‘Bar Rath’ seems to drag on the stage. Musicians
Theo, Alex and team have provided good live music to all the songs.

In the comic acts, comedian Mathew, Jimmy, Rizton and
Princey come together for some laughter moments and they form a perfect comical
quartet with clean comedy. The stage sets are taken care of by Anthony de
Ambaji, while Tremson handles the lights diligently.
