Dalgado Konknni Akademi bestowed its
prestigious ‘Vorsachem Pustok Puroskar’ (Book of the Year Award) 2019 and 2020
to Fr. Eusebio Gomes and Fr. Jose Dias on December 28 at Our Lady of Piety
Church, Divar at the hands of Business Associate and Cultural artist Alfi de
Divar. DKA President Vincy Quadros, Treasurer Celso Fernandes and Asst. Parish
Priest Fr. Myron Noronha were also present on the dais.
Book of the Year award 2019 winner Fr.
Eusebio Gomes for his book ‘Noitik Jivitache Rong’ expressed his solidarity
towards Konkani and explained how he got into writing of his Award winning book
which contains 30 essays, and though published by Vailankanni Prokaxon, was
financially supported by DKA, he said. He also thanked DKA for the good work
they do for the promotion of Konkani under the leadership of Vincy Quadros.
2020 Book of the year Award winner Fr. Jose Dias for his book ‘Gõy Sudhorta vo
Bigoddtta?’ a collection of 41 essays also thanked DKA and all his readers who
always cherished his writings. The award consisted of Cash of Rs. 20,000/- and
felicitation.

While speaking as the Chief Guest, Alfi de
Divar said, a reader cannot be a writer however every writer can be a reader.
He emphasized that there is a writer amongst us for whom needs to be activated.
Reading habbit is the best habbit of life, he said.
Vincy Quadros while congratulating both
the writers, expressed that we must read Konkani and DKA is all out to support
the publication of books and organize Konkani activities anytime and anywhere.
Celso Fernandes gave a warm welcome to the
Christmas gathering and also proposed vote of thanks. Fausta Gonsalves
introduced both the awardees. The function was compered by cultural artist
Eleuterio Da Costa.
