The 4th Annual ‘Lok-Utsov’, titled ‘Amcho Ganv’, organised by Barebhatt Social and
Cultural Association, will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Raia
Panchayat Sports complex. The objective behind organising this annual tribal
festival is aimed at promoting and protecting tribal culture, craft, art and
games.
The past editions of ‘Lok-Utsov’, have received high praise from
all quarters for its efforts to showcase the old Goan way of life, from the
display of artefacts from the bygone era to the artistically designed Goan
theme decor ; that brought back many nostalgic memories for the thousands who
thronged the festival from various parts of the state.
The festival will begin at 2:30 pm, followed by competitions in
traditional games, sweet dish making, traditional fancy dress and traditional
dance. Besides this, a medical camp will be held at the venue.
On the day of the festival, there will be various traditional
craft presentation along with traditional games like chantteamni, tablam,
koiba, mittamni, logoriamni, etc. Traditional food will be cooked at the
venue. There will be different stalls exhibiting the traditional business and
culture of the tribal community.
Seven well-known personalities, who have excelled in the field
of agriculture, sports, literature, drama and social service from the Raia will
be felicitated on the occasion. Well-known Konkani singer P Agnelo Fernandes
and his troupe will present the Konkani kantaram program called ‘Kantaranchi
Sanz’.
Lok-Utsov is organised in collaboration with Tourism Department
and supported by Directorate of Art and Culture, Department of Tribal Welfare,
Directorate of Agriculture, Village Panchayat Raia and other well-wishers.
There
will also be a medical camp which is supported by Faizan Khan, Chairman and
Managing Director, Universal Alliance group.
