Charity run to support cancer – affected women

The Rotary Rain Run is a major fundraising event to support the Flagship Community Service Activity of the Rotary Club of Porvorim – the Prakash Cancer Aid Project (PCAP) with 100 per cent of fund generated going to support this project. This will be the fourth edition of RRR

The 4th
edition of the popular Rotary Rain
Run (RRR) 2018 will take place at Bambolim on Sunday, July 29,
2018. The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Porvorim (RCP) in support of
early detection and cure of cervical and breast cancer among women, will be
held in the 5kms, 10kms and 21 kms ( half marathon) categories.

The RRR 2018 is driven by a team led by
co-chairmen, Avinash Parmar and Guirish Sawant.

A statement by the RCP also announced the
launch of a special anthem song for the event titled: ‘Lets Go!’. The anthem,
which was designed to encourage people to take up running, has been sung by
Varun Carvalho and Irina Blansh and was launched at the installation ceremony
function of the incoming RCP President Shephan Shaikh and her team for the year
2018-19 on the evening of June 30, 2018 in Panjim. The anthem is being shared
on social media and local TV channels.

The RRR attracted the participation of 1,500 runners last year.

This year too, the run will be conducted from the Bambolim SAG
stadium to Miramar via the Goa University road and the 10km and 21km runs will
be timed events. School children up to class X can register for the 5 km run
for free.
