A reason why we
love watching
different television shows is because of the characters and the
relationships they share, especially the ones we identify with. Sometimes,
these very characters become a part of our lives and we wish we had the same
relationships that they share onscreen. The same goes for friendships of
various kinds that show the strength in the relationship. As we celebrate
Friendship Day, it’s only fair to pay tribute to these irreplaceable characters
that enthral, entertain and inspire us with their bond.

Max and Caroline Two Broke Girls

Max Black and Caroline Channing come
from different backgrounds but they click in a day and from there, their bond
grows stronger. No matter what the cause, career wise or relationships, they
always support each other. At times, they have different opinions but come to
accept one another for who they are. They are completely broke but they enjoy
their life to the fullest. Most importantly, they let each other have their
moments. This show proves a girlfriend is a girl’s best friend.

 Joey and Chandler Friends

For me, it’s Joey Tribbianiand Chandler
Bing as their friendship was real and special. The witty humour of ‘Friends’ is
one of the best things. The characters grow on you and you would feel they are
your personal and close friends too as they go through their daily lives as
friends together. This show cheered me up when I felt sad. There is always
something going on that made you laugh.

DEIDRE REYS

 Ash Ketchum and Pikachu Pokémon

One of my favourite pairs will have to
be Ash and Pikachu. They were always saving each other from the trouble and
being an active participant in each others happiness. The much needed pillar of
strength during tough times! Their bond was one of kind. They are the perfect
example of friendship!

SHEEVANEE GAONKAR

Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles The Powerpuff
Girls

The Powerpuff Girls – all three of them!
Their bond was so inspirational, through thick and thin, from monsters to
choosing who gets the TV remote, it was all so amusing to see their bond! They
always had each other’s backs and they also had equal amount of fun! Also
because everytime I see them, it’s like watching me and my best friends,
Melissa and Sonia. That’s why theirs is the best friendship!

MARILYN PINTO

 Monica and Rachel Friends

Monica Geller and Rachel Green are my
favourite friends on television. I find their relationship similar to the one I
share with my sister. While I identify with Monica, I see Rachel in my sister.
They are lifelong friends who have been through the thick and thin in life.
They have fights but they know how to reconcile and get back together, stronger
than before, and laugh about it later. They share a very close relationship and
I have a feel good moment when I watch them on television.

NANCY D’CRUZ

Goku and Krillin Dragon Ball Z

Son Goku and Krillinmeet as rivals at
the start during training under Master Roshi. Towards the end of the training,
they become friends. It’s the death of Krillin that pushes Goku to have his
first transformation into a Super Saiyan. This shows how strong a friendship
Goku and Krillin have. They both believe in each other to the utmost value.
Goku and Krillin have taught me that friendship can last a lifetime.

SHERMAN FERNANDES

Tom and Jerry

When we think of friendship, I think Tom
and Jerry always tops the list. Even though they could kill each other at every
instance, they refused to live without each other. What more can you want from
a friendship than pure enjoyment, some love and a few fights. It was the most
fun friendship, and most importantly, it made us laugh till it hurt. Every
child will always have Tom and Jerry as their fondest memory and that says a
lot about their friendship.

SHIVANI KUNKOLIENKAR

 Sam and Dean Winchester Supernatural

I love the friendship between Sam and
Dean Winchester from TV show ‘Supernatural’. From a wingman to a shoulder to
rest the silver guns on! They are the inspiration of friendship we owe to our
siblings. Their friendship teaches us that the best and strongest bonds of
friendship exist between siblings who are there for each other no matter what.
Even death does not come in the way of their love for each other.

YOUNNA D’SILVA

 Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Scooby-Doo, Where
Are You!

The friendship I cherish the most is of
Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Rogers. It’s the most pure friendship ever shown on the
small screen. Though it’s a cartoon, it beautifully portrays the friendship
which a dog and his master develop over years. It’s a friendship with no rules
and boundaries and is purely based on the love and the bond these two classic
characters share! And yes, more so because the main bonding factor is FOOD!
