Co-working: the new Goa’s professional tinto

The co working mantra in Goa is leading to new relationships leading to growth & learning

Meet, Work, Help, Play, Repeat. All of this is played out in Goa’s growing co working spaces, each a vibrant bubble of young, spirited professionals, many of them self starters, working under one roof, yet working on projects and jobs, a world apart. Most importantly they feed off each other helping each other’s businesses and even lives, grow. This is one grow story you cannot afford to miss

When
Muhammed decided to move out of Bihar
for business and health reasons of his partner, he decided he
wanted to shift further south. He chose Goa more precisely Panjim. The quality
of life and more importantly the quality of the air did wonders for his friend
who is an asthmatic. With regards to their business they decided it would make
sense to work in a co-space. It would help them get on with work immediately,
have a space that was open 24×7 and more importantly which was conveniently
located.

Co-working facilities are now quickly
evolving in the country by differentiating themselves with new-age amenities
like cafes and recreational corners, besides even providing career assistance.
Even in the state there are similar facilities that dot the landscape. 91
Springboard has caught the imagination young entrepreneur who is keen on
setting up and expanding business, without having to go through the pains of
physically setting up an office. Something which is becoming redundant in this
day and age.

For Darryl Zuzarte Hub Honcho, 91
Springboard is an excellent option for the Goa workspace. He said “Goa is an
upcoming destination and things are still in a nascent stage but there is a
degree of excitement due to the availability of such services. We have a lot of
people who are involved in start-ups and who do not wish to work in a
conventional setting. Over here there are approximately 70 plus teams from a
minimum of three in a team to a maximum of 9. There are teams working across
sectors across technologies. One could say one is looking at the start of a
technology led start up industry being set up over here”.

He pointed out something interesting with that 70% of the people
in the hub were freelancers and the rest being offshore team of large
corporates. Muhammed, said, he had created a software to evaluate answer sheets
and they were presently being tested by various high-end education facilities
in the state as well the country.

He said “I am not Goan and I don’t know many people here. This
facility helps me plug into the system on my terms but also importantly meet
people with a similar inkling. There are times when we are stuck and it is not
unusual for us to look around for help and individuals with a specific skill
set step in and help. On a personal level I have friends now over here who
develop plans for the weekends and invite us. It is a community within a
community”. The co-working space is now also being taken advantage by
well-established companies like Google, Amazon, Yahoo, Paytm etc.

There
are other options available for interested individuals like Moustache Goa a
co-work hostel. Located in Mandrem and run by Deepak Aggarwal it provides space
to guests who either stay long or are here on a short assignment. They have
clients who spend as much two months and still counting who stay and work at
the facility. This is a tie-up between Bootstart which has 11 co working spaces
in the country and Deepak who has 11 hostels.
