Nestled in the
bustling by lanes of Panjim, Tinge offers coastal cuisine from across the western and southern belt
of India.
The place has minimalistic decor and there isn’t anything very
loud or flashy about it. It’s a simple place that functions purely because of
its delectable food. The staff is warm and hospitable and serves you with a smiling
face always. During lunch hours, Tinge is always buzzing with the fish thali
lovers along with those who favour the al-a-carte menu.
Their fish thali is extremely well received with
the audience and so are the chicken and veg thalis. Chicken
65, a dish that originated from Hotel Buhari in Chennai is a house favourite.
The tender pieces of chicken tossed in spices and a peculiar flavour of
kari-patta makes for a quick and delicious snack.
Another
interesting starter was the Kerala Mutton Fry. Juicy and succulent shredded
mutton cooked with spices, with a tadka of curry leaves, it’s a very popular
dish in Kerala and is often available in variants of mutton, chicken and beef
too.
Koliwada
Prawns are also a must try. Fried in a thick batter, was originated in
‘Koliwada’ in Mumbai and that too by a North Indian immigrant of Punjabi origin
For the main course, Malabari Prawn
Curry with MalabariParota is definitely worth the indulgence. They also have a
few Nortt Indian dishes in their menu and hence Dal Makhani was the obvious
choice to try out the cuisine. Although the Dal Makhani was nicely done, we
would still have to say that coastal food is their strength.
One of the highlights is the fact
that the restaurant offers some of the liquor brands on MRP.
Tinge is
surely worth your while and you must pay a visit for a wholesome coastal
cuisine experience.
