It’s been over a month since we all have been under a lockdown
and hence exploring food outside the house was out of question. But now since a
few days some of the restaurants have started home deliveries and it is such a
big relief.
The first home delivery that we opted for was from this very
popular neighborhood café and bistro called Caravela.
Known for their coffees, sandwiches, burgers, pastas and
cupcakes and more, Caravela Café and Bistro made for a perfect choice to
satiate our cravings for a delicious meal and that too without having to leave
the house.
First things first, the restaurant took all the necessary
precautions to ensure a safe and hygienic delivery. It was a contactless
delivery and we made an online payment to make it even safer. The food packets
were neatly packed and sealed and there was no chance of contamination or even
spillage. Since we also ordered a cold coffee and Oreo shake as well, must
compliment the smart and sturdy packaging from the restaurant that it actually
came intact without even a drop spilling from any of the glasses.
Coming to food, we ordered a Ham & Cheese Sandwich, A
Chicken Club Sandwich, a Veg Club Sandwich and a Chicken Burger too.
The sandwiches and burger came with potato wedges as a side dish
and even in a home delivery; they did not turn soggy and were perfectly crisp
to eat.
The ham and cheese sandwich packed with delicious pork ham and
generous filling of cheese is a delight for those who love simple sandwiches
and don’t bother about frills.
The club sandwiches were huge, and each sandwich is a complete
meal in itself. The chicken sandwich had 3 layers, one with chicken ham, one
with an omelet and one with a tomato, cucumber and lettuce salad. Similarly the
veg club sandwich had 3 generous layers of veggies and made for a delectable
treat.
The chicken burger was easily one of the best, with the most
succulent chicken patty that almost melted in the mouth, its something on the
menu that you should not give a miss. A gooey brownie was perfect to end the
meal.
Clubbed with a perfectly made cold coffee and a delicious Oreo
shake, this home delivery was more than what one could have asked for in these
tough times of lockdown. Also the two things that were highly impressive were
the fact that Caravela is the only café that roasts its own coffee beans and
you can actually get coffee beans or powder delivered too and secondly that
they haven’t increased their prices for delivery. This kind of thoughtfulness
goes a long way especially when practically everyone is managing his or her
finances in the best way possible. For those in Panjim, the café also opens for
a takeaway between 8AM and 6:30PM.
This delivery or take away of a sumptuous food and coffee is
definitely worth your while; so do give it a try till things get better and you
can venture out with family and friends to the café itself.
