Various photo exhibitions were held in the
state to celebrate World Photography Day on August 19. The day provided an
ideal platform for young Goan lad Navdeep Aguiar to launch his photography
website Photografia.in. The website aims at providing a marketing gateway for
the young breed of photographers.
Talking more about the website, ace
photographer Shiresh Karrale, who was in Goa for the launch, said, “The website
will act like a marketing hub for photographers in Goa. Here, clients can hire
photographers for wedding and private photo shoots by just going through the
profiles available on the site.”

The website also has a section where one
can buy and sell camera equipment. A Q&A section has also been added for any
queries regarding photography.
Shiresh Karrale has over 27 years of
experience in the field of photography. He is an alumnus of Sir JJ School of
Arts and has trained under the able guidance of legendary photographers late
Wilas Bhende and late Gautam Rajadhyaksha. He recollected, “I am fond of Goa as
I share a special connection with this place; both my gurus, Wilas and Gautam,
are from here. I frequently visit Goa.”
Speaking on the aspects of what it takes to
be a good photographer, Karrale, who
recently conducted a workshop on advanced photography at Ravindra Bhavan,
Baina, said, “Basic knowledge about photography is a must. One should always
respect his teacher, as he can teach you several techniques. Photography is an
art and if you get proper guidance, you can do amazing things. Also, one major
quality a photographer should possess is a friendly disposition. It’s important
to build a good rapport with others in order to grow. Attending photography
workshops and following the works of foreign photographers also helps.”
Nowadays, social media has proven to be the
best medium to promote one’s work. says Karrale, who was the Group Photo Editor
and Creative Director for 23 special interest magazines of Infomedia 18 from
1996-2011.
Karrale is also the sole architect behind
India’s first degree course in Photography (3 years) with Symbiosis
International University’s Symbiosis School of Photography.
