Cycling for a healthy you

The Cycling Association of Goa (CAG) organised Cyclone Goa, a 25.13km cycle rally on December 19, 2014 in Mapusa. With the purpose of creating awareness about the health benefits of cycling and to promote it as an upcoming sport in the state, the rally was encouraged by cyclists from all over Goa participating in it.

Almost 160 cyclists registered
for the rally and were excited before the start of the rally. The official
Cycling Goa jersey for cyclists was launched by Deputy Chief Minister of Goa,
Francis D’Souza while Ileana D’Cruz was presented a LA Soverign cycle. Sant
Naik was the winner of the most shares on Facebook contest. Also present at the
ceremony were Ryan Braganza, President of the Cycling Association of Goa and
Aryan Khedekar.

The rally was flagged off by Ileana D’Cruz and Deputy Chief
Minister of Goa, Francis D’Souza from the Mapusa Taxi Stand which then
proceeded to Parra, Saligao, Calangute, Sinquerim, Nagoa before returning to
Mapusa. The selfie contest winners Amey Kakodkar and Joseph Rodrigues got to
click a selfie with Ileana, Aryan Khedekar, and Deepika.

The entertainment program had the famous unicyclist Neptune
performing on his unicycle for the audience as they anticipated the cyclists
from the rally while Pierrick St-Pierre also known as Mr Banana Show kept the
kids entertained with his aerobatic show.

A junior rally of six young participants was organised
inside the taxi stand itself. Pradeep Barmanawar, Sairaj Arolkar, Bharat
Chauhan, Rohit Salkar, Mohammed Kaif and Nahshon Rebello took ten laps and were
awarded participation certificates. The programme was hosted by Nelson D’Mello.
