Damodar College’s ‘Anantara’ lights up Goa

The Students’ Council and Cultural Council of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics organized a one day state level intercollegiate event “Anantara 2018” at Ravindra Bhavan. The mega event Anantara 2018 was a mix of 14 events which gave the students an opportunity to demonstrate a wide spectrum of talent, teamwork, creativity and sportsmanship

The Students’ Council and Cultural Council of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce &
Economics organized a one day state level intercollegiate event “Anantara 2018” at Ravindra Bhavan. The student officials,
event managers and more than 200 volunteers worked tirelessly for almost two
months to make this event the best it could be. Team spirit, coordination and
cooperation among the students were the basic ingredients which made this event
a super success. There was spark, spirit, stamina, strength in the air.

The mega event Anantara 2018 was a mix of 14 events which gave
the students an opportunity to demonstrate a wide spectrum of talent, teamwork,
creativity and sportsmanship. Whiplash- Battle of Bands, Mr. & Ms.
Anantara, Born From A Boom Box-Group Dance, Defile De Mode-Fashion Show, Toca
Discos-Turn Table, Chef Anantara, Lit Quest, Tela De Pintura-Canvas Painting,
Monetary Planover-Business Plan, Brainsparx Quiz , Freeze The
Moment-Photography , Nukkad Act-Street Play ,Strength Mania, Tug of War and Tie
Breaker.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Luizinho
Faleiro, former Chief Minister of Goa and present MLA of Navelim Constituency.
Principal Dr. Prita .D. Mallya welcomed the gathering. President of Vidya Vikas
Mandal, CA Sheela Gaunekar addressed the gathering and conveyed her best wishes
to all the participants. Faleiro in his message for the students emphasized on
the need to look beyond the classroom learning and develop skills required to
keep pace with the changing scenario. Anantara 2018 was declared open by the
click of a mouse by Falerio to raise the curtain for the event. With this
gesture, all the events heads, volunteers and participants set into action to
take charge of their duties and demonstrate their best efforts.

Finally, after all the hustle and bustle, running and racing,
singing and dancing, gaming and sporting, quizzing and debating, winning and
losing, the pandemonium came to a climax at the prize distribution ceremony
where St. Xavier’s College was declared the winner, Rosary College of Arts and
Commerce were the first runner up and Parvaitbai Chowgule College of Arts and
Science was the second runner up. The Chief Guest for the Valedictory function
was Dilip Prabhudessai. Prabhudesai in his address pleaded to all the students
to get together and join hands to save Goan culture, identity, natural beauty
and resources for future generations. He congratulated the organizers and all
the participants for putting up a great show. The program concluded with a vote
of thanks proposed by Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya.

The overall incharge for the event were Dr. Edwin Barreto and.
Sheetal Arondekar ably assisted by the General Secretary, Students’ Council,
Jay Nagvenkar, General Secretary Cultural Council, Rohan Morye and General
Captain, Sports Council, Rajdeep Dessai.

The
competition was a successful attempt to bring together students from all the
points of Goa and provide a platform to all of them showcase their talent.
