Decision2019- WANTED: Statesmen, Visionaries, true leaders

It will all come out today with results for the by-elections and the Lok Sabha will be announced. The people of Goa have waited patiently and now hope their chosen candidate is elected and importantly does the work he has promised to initiate and compete during his or her campaign. Café spoke to people around Goa about their hopes and expectations from the elections

The wish list is short, but the spirit of those wishes is long. But beneath the counter allegations
and claims of parties and politicians, somewhere deep within, Indians, young
and old still look for the tall leader, the statesman, the visionary who will
rise above parties to be an asset to the nation. That hope, belied for long,
still exists. That is the beauty of our democracy. Let’s hear some of the
voices of people in Goa, on the eve of Decision2019

Yes,
it that day when it all comes to a head. Politics today has become so messy. I
want the politicians to start focusing on the community. Earlier we had
statesmen who could motivate the common man, today is there one around. I would
like to see our politicians bring society together instead of encouraging
divisions. In addition, I would like to see them initiate steps to protect our
resources. Today we see the wanton destruction of our resources. With regards
my personal choice, I am happy with who I voted for.

KULASHEKHAR KANTIPUDDI – Builder Donna Paula

Whichever side wins I hope there will be a clarity and we don’t
have to suffer the complications that come due to coalitions. I personally
would like to see the financial liquidity conditions improve which will result
in financial stability which is good for everyone

NITIN GANNA, businessman,Margao,

I feel that we should have a good govt. nothing good has
happened from the previous one. We heard a lot of promises and nothing else.
Prices increased and no one benefited. We need a responsive government which
will keep the people happy. The poor people have suffered I don’t know how they
are managing. I hope the right people come to power and get into the right jobs
and help keep the people happy. With regards my personal choice and for whom I
voted, I am very happy.

LEVANCIO VINCENT FRANCIS DSOUZA – Vasco

Tomorrow the fate in democracy will be restored. It was a major
exercise and I hope the people have given the right mandate since it will have
long term repercussions. I am happy with my candidate and I am sure he will win

ASHWIN DE SOUZA, Aldona

Irrespective of which party or coalition party comes to power I
want a stable government at the centre. I don’t want them to work on their
party mandate but they have to work on the mandate of the country. It is
important they work they help provide jobs, security, work on poverty
alleviation, security and other policies which the country needs. There has to
also be concrete steps to help new age entrepreneurs in terms of the
availability of money. With regards my choice of candidate, I hope he wins.

TIRTHPRASAD NAGVEKAR– Businessman Corlim

I would like to see a strong government at the centre which will
ensure India becomes a major force across the globe. Women’s safety should be
given highest priority
