Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) deeply mourn the sad and untimely demise of Fr. Conceicao D’Silva. By his death DKA has lost a staunch supporter and well wisher of the Konkani cause. When DKA was facing financial constraints, he offered his financial assistance to start the prestigious Dalgado Puroskar in the year 2004. He continued to do so till the time the Government of Goa started grants to DKA. He was the Vice President of DKA for two terms under the Presidentship of Mr. Premanand A. Lotlikar and Mr. Tomazinho Cardozo. Now, with DKA President Vincy Quadros, he had decided to make Raia as the Centre of Konkani in Roman script. In the year 2019, he and Vincy had organized a competition on the Audio CD created by DKA in which around 200 participants displayed their talents by singing the songs. In the year 2020, Raia organized the Konkani Vachop Spordha for Parish Pastoral Council Members on February 21st, Catechists of Raia were to participate in the competition. There were many activities planned in Raia under the guidance of Fr. Conceicao to promote Konkani with the support of Vincy Quadros after his being elected as Vice President in the year February, 2020. He was a spiritual healer and a quiet listener.
Presently he was the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Snow’s Church, Raia. Earlier he served as the Parish Priest at Mandur, Carambolim, Calangute, Taleigao etc. Deeply involved in spiritual activities, he has served Christ in actions and deeds. People from different parts of Goa and the neighbouring states were vising him almost every day for day-to-day necessities. He was a priest who did not care about money. But the people with short sight would malign his character. The people who carried bags of sugar, necessary things and rice would be the right persons to answer his behavior. Likewise the members of DKA would appreciate his gesture of spending thousands of rupees in giving away DKA awards since 2004 till 2008 and his Vice President ship for a decade.
The Committee of Dalgado Konknni Academi convey our deepest condolences to the family of Fr. Conceicao D’Silva. With the loss of the Vice President of DKA, we lost a great supporter of DKA and a visionary of Konkani. May God grant him eternal rest.
