According to data
available in the public space, Panjim can provide parking for over 2,200 four-wheelers and
5,500 two-wheelers. The problem is visible quite dramatically in Panjim with
vehicles crawling on its roads due to double parking and poor parking on the
road. The problem of double parking has spread like a rash across the city,
exacerbated by the surge in the sales of vehicles.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: WHEN THEY CAN’T PARK, THEY BLOCK
All along Panjim and other towns, roads are blocked and chocked not so much by vehicles parted but by vehicles waiting to park. A they wait for parking lots to free up they occupy road space and slow down traffic.
