FC Goa needs more than its new star Tlang, to ‘Redeem’ its fortunes

Redeem Tlang has been FC Goa’s first signing for the new season, a relatively lightweight signing compared to the heavyweights whom have left the club. The Lobera less FC Goa club’s biggest hurdle is to get quality players of the same class as those who have left or leaving the club

Some of the poster boys of the club like Mandar Dessai, Ahmed Jahouh and Mortada Fall are rumoured to be on their way to Mumbai FC to join their old manager Sergio Lobero. Many others have moved on to other teams. This is the nature of the beast. Teams are built, evolve and then move on. The  next season will be interesting given that they will also have to prepare for the Asian Championship where the standard of play is even higher.

Redeem Tlang is a great signing for FC Goa. He will light up the wings while he also has a knack for scoring goals. Fall, Jahouh and Mandar are a huge loss for us especially with Hugo Boumous  and Ferran Carominas uncertain of continuing. We lost our continuity and will have to rebuild the squad again. Juan Ferrando faces a similar challenge to what Lobera faced when he walked in. Juan will revamp this team. For what I’ve read and heard of him he’s a fantastic manager who’s been learning the art from a very young age and has been quite successful. All the departing players have to be replaced. So, we will see a lot of signings coming in- Conrad Barreto Co-Founder Football Dugout

We are really excited to see Redeem Tlang as FC Goa first signing of the season. However it will be an uphill task to get all the players to adapt and get a good wavelength on field. New Coach Juan Feraando should come out with a strategy to ensure that the new team comes stronger as hopes and aspirations of the fans are high as we have qualified for the ACL .Our biggest worry is a fractured defense line with Fall, Sana and Carlos Pena having left the club.

I am shocked by the way poster boys like Mandar Rao Dessai, Mourtada Fall and Ahemed Jahou left the club after the exit of Lobera. One thing is now clear the former coach never lost the dressing room especially when dozens of them left FCG today. However, with new signings and greater opportunities ahead, FC Goa should lay major thrust on re building its fortress now with mid field maestro Ahmed Jahou missing. We look upon players like Lenny Rodrigues  who have around 165 interceptions last season to stand out and perform for the team– Asher Antao, Student Navelim

National team players like Jacki Chand Singh , Manvir Singh and Mandar Rao Dessai leaving the club has definitely come as a big blow to fans. With so many major positions in thje mid-field and defense open to fresh faces, it will not be easy task for the new squad to adapt. But FC Goa has always risen up to the occasion and we as fans will stand with the players we love the most. There are many rumours making the rounds on social Media but I just hope the new coach Juan Ferrando continues the former coache’s legacy and fine tunes the team to script a successful story at the ACL next year. Roysten Moreas, Velim Self Employed

The new signing is a welcome step taken by FC Goa. In these times it is very important the club ensures it makes the most and build a strong team. FC Goa may have lost some key players like Mandar Rao and Ahmed Jahou but we must not forget it’s the best time when upcoming players like Savior Gama and Princeton Rebello can prove their caliber. I am very positive that FC Goa will outshine all teams and make a mark in Asia– Wahid Sheikh, Student Rosary College of Commerce and Arts Navelim

With local stars like Romeo-Mandar -Jahou leaving the Fatorda stadium, the team is bound to lose its charm. The club should promote and focus on local talents than hiring players from other parts of the country. We are not sure how next season will take shape with the likelihood of matches behind closed doors and the ACL being postponed– Shubham Faldessai, Self Employed Quepem
