Forca Goa’ chants ring loud & clear as Gaurs play for play offs

It has been a season of mixed fortunes for FC Goa this season. They now are fourth in the standings and will need to win four of the remaining six games to be sure of a semi finals spot. Café spoke to fans to gauge their reactions and to ask what they felt the team ought to be doing to consolidate their position.

With a few number of games remaining to be played in the league, apart from Mumbai City FC, the others have not sealed their spot in the top 4 yet. Many are in contention for the next 3 spots so it’s going to be tougher day by day.  We have played good so far this season and are on an unbeaten run for 5/6 games. So it’s a good sign for us and if we win the next game vs NEUFC then we have a very good chance of nearing and sealing our spot in the top 4. Looking at our form in recent games I’m pretty sure that we’ll definitely finish in the top for. And for sure if we finish in the top 4 we’ll go for the glory too. Força Goa!  -Kunal Kunkolienkar, East Lower Army, Margao, Goa.

With the playoffs just getting closer,  FC Goa have almost climbed the mountain to get into the playoffs,  the positivity and the hard work of the players and the management has paid off , But we need to keep going and do our best every time we step onto the field….. -Prinson Cliff Barbosa , Quepem

You need to give credit to the FC Goa management for the remarkable season so far. They lost their top foreign and domestic players to rival clubs but they managed to hold on to the top 4 position by playing beautiful football for the past 6 seasons. I have no doubt they will make it to top 4 this year too. -Santos Mandrekar, Navelim

FC Goa management does not get enough credit for what they are doing. Any other team would have collapsed with four of their star foreign players leaving, three for a rival club. Domestic players left too. Others are being poached. Yet, FC Goa has fought everything. Honestly I did not expect much after such an overhaul in the squad but they have proven me wrong , without any Shadow of doubt FC Goa definitely are the masters of rebuilding in ISL. Juan Ferrando deserves more credit than what he’s getting for building a squad from a clean slate rather than just repainting an old car in a different shade. -Omi Tunes, Musician, Vasco

These seasons for FC Goa, started with questions from fans, like will the new team survive the expectations? Many were skeptical about it. But FCGoa showed intent of challenging the league leaders. FCGoa has thoroughly entertained everyone with their eye pleasing football, with a decent defensive display. The Goan side has a lot of quality players, routinely making it into top goals, top assists and top shots list. Goa has the best attack in the league. In my opinion FCGoa will surely cement its position in the top 4.This year the team has massive improvement in departments like positional attack, high press and number of crosses. -Meblish Fernandes, Electrical Engineer,  São Jose de Areal

It is not easy to replace the quality of Fall, Boumous, Mandar Rao, Coro, and Jahouh. But FC Goa did a great job signing great replacements. They were also brilliant in signing a great striker, first Coro and now Angulo. Just brilliant. Kudos to the management.

I will be more than happy if we maintain our position in the top 4 & Make it to the play-offs, after which we have nothing to lose. You never know we could win it all. -Johnny Carvalho, Bulls Arena, Nagoa

As the league is coming to an end it is becoming more exciting as who will qualify for the playoffs. Well, speaking of FC Goa as they are  currently sitting in the 4th position with just 6 games left in hand the team needs to win their upcoming matches to qualify for the playoffs. I feel the team will qualify for the playoffs no doubt in it the boys need to pull up their socks with 3 winless matches they need to create as many chances they want and to convert them in their upcoming matches. The team is capable of doing that . So let’s hope for the best. -Asher Antao , Curtorim , Student

This Goan team is full of playmakers. Although the second half performances have not been impressive in the last two games, Chances of Goa reaching are good.

We should be wary of teams like Hyderabad, North East or even East Bengal who are coming up strongly in the last few rounds.  -Rodney Severes, Majorda
