Fr Agnel College holds anti plastic rally

 The NSS Unit of Fr.
Agnel College Pilar conducted a Social Awareness Rally, on 7th September 2018,
on the theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution”. 100 NSS Volunteers participated in the
rally that covered the villages of Agassaim and Goa Velha. The rally was
flagged off by the Principal of Fr. Agnel College, Dr. Savio Falleiro, the
Principal commended the efforts of the volunteers to protect the environment.
The serene villages of Goa Velha and Agacaim witnessed enthusiastic volunteers
approaching villagers and handing out free paper bags and cloth bags which were
made by the NSS volunteers of the college. The volunteers encouraged the
villagers to stop using plastic items. They spread the message of reducing the
use of single- use plastic, plastic straws and plastic disposable containers,
which harm and pollute the environment. The rally ended in the market places of
the villages, where they were joined by the Sarpanch and members of the village
Panchayat, Mr.Xavier Fernandes (Sarpanch Agassaim) and Mrs. Succorina Mendes
(Sarpanch Goa Velha), in respective market places. The Panchayat acknowledged
the work and efforts of the volunteers. The Vice Principal of Fr. Agnel
College, Dr. Frederick Rodrigues sfx, addressed the gatherings and appreciated
the efforts of the volunteers and requested all to start efforts of reducing
plastic and finding environment friendly sources. The students were joined by
their NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Murelle Da Costa and Ms. Anneliese D’Costa.
