its beaches and its rather distinctive culture. Its music, the
football and yes, the Feni are also very unique to Goa. The state authorities
are now making a concerted effort to showcase the strengths, highlight business
opportunities and facilitate the dissemination of knowledge across 12 countries
and 20 states in India. This is part of the Vibrant Goa GES 2019 and is
expected to provide a practical opportunity to its participants to understand
the potential of Goa across various sectors. Importantly, during the 3-day
summit that will be held between October 17 and 19, 2019, the organisers will
attempt to create the world record for the largest feni drink. This will happen
on October 18 at Tito’s, after 7 pm.
Noted architect Rita Joshi Mody, who is
overseeing the smooth flow of the world record attempt, said that the idea came
out of the fact that they were keen on promoting products of Goa. Products like
Feni and Cashew were unique to Goa. They decided to go for a world record and
contacted the Guinness World Record to validate and record the world record.
However, too many issues cropped up. Rita said, “They wanted timelines on
everything and it got too complicated. We also needed a large number of
professional people. They were also asking for large sums of monies that ran
into several tens of thousands of dollars. In addition, they wanted 2000 litres
of Cocktail and we realised it was just not working out.” After discussions and
some checking around, they decided to go with the Golden Book of World Records
International Organisation, a company that focussed on different facets of
records. The planning took place for over a year. For a brief moment in time,
they had contemplated approaching the Limca Book of Records but since they
wanted international attention, they went with the Golden Book of World
Records.
Golden Book of World Records (GBWR) is an exclusive
international book of records. The record book aims to give a platform to
people who have some hidden or unhidden talent, who want to stand ahead of
others and want to have their name in the golden pages of history by doing and
accomplishing unique attempts. GWBR actively functions at recognising and
publishing the unique achievements for such talented people all around the
world. GBWR works through an online portal that gets updated every twenty-four
hours with the name of new record achievers.
The blender at Tito’s will be involved in the process and is
trying to mix a whole lot of juices to make something special. The feni used
will be the one bottled for Tito’s. Rita said, “We have tight resources and
everything is focussed on business development in Goa. Our attention is
focussed on more important issues. Feni is such an important part of Goan
culture; it is important to promote it. Blenders will be coming from the Golden
Book of World Records. The records management judge will be there to judge it.
Like I said earlier, the blender from Tito’s who does the cocktails will handle
it.”
The organisers are paying the hotel and flight expenses of the
Records Management Judge and will also pay a fee of Rs 150 dollars for the task
of judging the attempt. They had to provide reams of documents as to alcoholic
content of feni.
It
will be made in a huge container and since Vibrant Goa has five colours, it
will be represented in the drink. The organisers are looking for a blender
capable of doing this. It will also be important to have a large number of
tasters and the organisers have made arrangements for around 500 tasters to be
present. They would like even more people present there. After it is all done,
it will be bottled and given to the people as Feni cocktail as a memento. It
will be called Vibrant Goa@ Tito’s. The organisers seem very confident of the
success of this venture and hope this will mark a turn for the economy of the
state.
