Goa to get more filmy soon

Continuing with its dominant streak in Goa, Inox is expanding its business in the state by opening more movie screens across Goa. Café speaks to a few Goans and finds out what it means for them

After having a successful run with their oldest property in Panjim, Inox recently started operations in Margao followed by Porvorim. However, a few days ago, Inox surprised everyone by their advertisement which appeared in most of the leading newspapers in Goa. While the advertisement was to announce the launch of its operations in Goa’s newest mall – Mall De Goa in Porvorim, one line in the ad in particular caught everyone’s attention. Team Inox’s announcement of starting not three, but four properties in Goa left everyone guessing about the fourth property. And if rumours are to be believed, Osia in Margao that has left much to be desired, is soon going to be taken over by the management of Inox. However, we are still awaiting official confirmation on this piece of news. Having said that, and again going by the rumours if Inox takes over Osia, how beneficial is it to have two properties adjacent to one another? Or are they both going to be merged? If that happens, then which is the fourth property? We’ll have the answers to all these questions after more concrete news is out.
So what does this mean for the movie buffs in Goa? To start with, more movie screens across Goa means better access to people from areas like Mapusa, Margao and especially for those who live at the extreme ends along the Southern and Northern borders of the state. Tanvi Kudalkar, a freelance baker and pastry chef from Vasco who functions under the banner, Sugar Rush, is usually busy attending to customers and, as she puts it, spreading smiles. Her busy schedule seldom allows the movie buff in her the luxury of travelling to Panjim/Margao as often as she would have liked, to catch her favourite movie on the big screen. Tanvi says, “The increasing number of multiplexes in Goa makes a huge difference as travelling is an issue. I am a movie buff but because Vasco doesn’t have an Inox, I miss out on a lot of movies. I just hope that we get a quality multiplex in Vasco soon.”
Here’s what the people have to say:
Going to Inox Margao is convenient because it’s closer. The picture and sound quality of the auditoriums is decent, however, the size is comparatively smaller . I would prefer the Panjim property for a better experience any day. – Tanvi Kudalkar, Vasco
By starting operations in Porvorim, I think the folks at Inox have made it a lot more convenient for people like me who don’t like the idea of getting stuck in the traffic jam while crossing the Mandovi bridge. Also, it appears to be the swankiest of all in Goa. – Gilbert Mendes, Sangolda
