Goan dancers shine at IIDC

 Five Goans won
accolades in different categories
at the India International Dance Congress, one of the biggest
salsa festivals in India, held in Bangalore on July 5, 6, 7 and 8, 2018. Amit
Rajput, Sakshi Kurtarkar, Akshay Anwekar, Shamaz Nk and Riya Sharma took part
in the competition organised by Latino Rhythms Dance Academy (LRDA). This was
the eighth year of IIDC (2018) with the focus on giving an opportunity to learn
new forms and techniques from the best in the world. The weekend was packed
with interesting workshops, competitions and performances.

Amit Rajput and
Sakshi Kurtarkar were the first runners up 2018 for All Asia Professional
Bachata; Akshay Anwekar was the second runner up 2018 for All Asia Amateur
Solo; Riya Sharma was the champion 2018 of All Asia Semi Pro Solo; Ankit and
Shamaz Nk were the first runner up 2018 of All Asia Amateur Salsa and first
runners up 2018 of All Asia Amateur Bachata while Shamaz Nk was the first
runner up 2018 of All Asia Amateur Solo.

Coming
from Ponda, Amit Rajput and Sakshi Kurtarkar are two powerful salsa dancers who
have been whipping up a storm on dance reality shows on national television.
Amit started out as a student of Bollywood dance before moving to Latin dances
and after being an instructor himself, he is now paired up with Sakshi. They
have been participants of reality dance shows like ‘India Got Talent’, ‘Dance
Plus’ Season, ‘India Banega Manch’ and more recently ‘High Fever’.
