They say music is one of the best ways to express oneself. Dhiti Lotlikar, a budding singer, who has proved it. Her performance with a konkani song which is part of a kanada film 777 Charlie, O’Ga is a case in point.
She is a multi talented young girl, who is currently pursuing her first year of B.Sc Biotech from Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science – Autonomous. Along with music, she is also a national level badminton player. She said, “I am feeling proud of myself being a Goan having got an opportunity to sing for such a professional and renowned music production company.” She went on to say she was used to having a face off while singing with her sister, who is also a singer and national level badminton player. She said travelling from there to the studio was a dream come true.
The lyricist of the song and her trainer, Saiesh Panandikar is a well known artist in the country. He has contributed extensively towards music and theatre. Talking about Dhiti he said, “Dhiti has a husky voice which is different and people can easily connect to it. The understanding and the depth which she has about the field of music at this age is commendable.”
While talking about her, Saiesh remembers an incident during the selection process of the singer, “I was supposed to suggest Dhiti’s name for the song and coincidentally at the same time the music director got a chance to see her viral video singing Lorna’s song. He contacted me saying that he needed such a voice for the song and the result is there for all to.” He said that she was a talented and focused singer, who can do wonders and would definitely have a bright future.
Talking further about how he was able to do justice to the song, he said, “I was personally able to connect it to my life. I am an animal lover and the song is based on that. The trend of including pets with a key role in a movie is rare. It is still seen more in Hollywood movies than in Bollywood .” He further added that the movie was unique in the sense it highlighted the human connect with pets. And importantly the clarity in the plot helped in a very good execution.
And for the same Dhiti said, “The entire team was very supportive. I made mistakes, but I got to learn from them. The team helped me in understanding the studio dynamics and provided me with utmost comfort.” Adding to this she said that her dad and Saiesh were always there with her. She was highly motivated by their presence, due to which the entire recording was a smooth affair.
She further went on to say, “The setup for the song is visually appealing and the voice was emotionally connecting, as an outcome it was a hit. Secondly, the amount of support which we have received from the audience in Goa and Karnataka has been immense.”
As a piece of advice to all budding singers, Saiesh said “One should have the open mind to understand, accept and respect all kinds of music. The singers in the present generation are lucky enough to get an opportunity to get exposure due to the technology which is always present on their fingertips.”
Finally he said it was very important to practice because it was the only thing that would help them improve. It was the only way and nothing else really helps.
