Goa’s Padma Shri awardees felicitated

 The Governor of Goa, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai felicitated Padma Shri awardees
Brahmeshanand Acharya, Swami, Shree Kshetra Tapobhoomi and Brahmanand
Shankhwalkar, former Indian footballer and captain of Indian team at a function
held at Darbhar Hall, Raj Bhavan on Friday.

Rajendra Arlekar, Governor of Himachal Pradesh was also present
on the occasion. Acknowledging spiritual institutions for their contributions
to India and the world, Governor of Goa said, “Our spirituality is our greatest
contribution to India. As regards to our constitution and parliamentary system,
people are supreme. As far as supremacy is concerned, above all, the dharma is
supreme. If dharma exists, there is no need for a king, according to the
original concept. We do not need to be concerned about anything if dharma
prevails in the society. Although various people have different beliefs, the
soul of this country is our tradition”.

“The contribution made by Brahmanand Shankhwalkar in the field
of sports is immense, reason why he was conferred with Padma Shri award”, added
Governor.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Rajendra
Arlekar said, “Union government has recognized the work of common people in
society and their enormous contribution to the nation’s development by
bestowing Padmashri award for distinguished service of Brahmanand Shankhwalkar
in the field of sports and immense contribution of Brahmeshanand Acharya Swami
in the field of spirituality across the world”.

Adding further Arlekar said, “Through his activities, Sadguru
Brahmeshanand Swami has strived to propagate positive ideals about humanity
around the world. Swami’s tremendous contribution in Sanskrit language,
promoting positive consciousness about de-addiction and other areas would go a
long way in achieving society’s growth”.
