For many ladies out there, the
World Cup isn’t always about football.
It is a time that comes every four years when friends or partners tend to ditch
ones’ company to cheer for their favourite team and women aren’t always that
interested. While cup literally runneth over with many a Cristiano Ronaldo,
Lionel Messi and Wesley Sneijder fan, a new trend has emerged this time around.
Many have queued up to proclaim their fanatic fan following for the lads with
the cat-like reflexes. The ones that have been changing the outcomes of games
with their split-second decision making: the goalkeepers.

Fainna Fernandes from Mapusa says, “I love Ochoa. His hair is just so
outstanding. He’s a great goalkeeper as well, but the hair is just so
attractive.” German representative Manuel Neuer has made his mark with an £18
million price tag for his club and a priceless tag with the ladies. Similarly,
the evergreen Julio Cesar, Hugo Lloris and Guillermo Ochoa have found their
stock rising in terms of a large number of female fans. Claire Antao Peregrino
Da Costa from Aquem believes, “Iker Casillas is like a timeless classic for me.
I’ve watched him over the years, and nothing has changed.”
So whether in
a good run of form or not, one thing remains for certain, that the lads with
the gloves on are certainly doing plenty of catching. At least of the attention
kind.
