History to debut at VH1 Supersonic Goa 2014

Team VH1 Supersonic Goa 2014 will celebrate the Industrial Revolution of the late 1700s, by dedicating its unique stage to the historic period in England

Festival Director
of VH1 Supersonic Goa, Nikhil Chinapa feels that while most people at festivals
focus more on the lineup of artists, the importance of visual aspect of a
festival is undermined in creating a holistic experience. Perhaps to change
this very thing, team VH1 Supersonic Goa will be paying a tribute to a bygone
era – the Industrial Revolution of the late 1700s, by creating a unique
stage with embedded elements which will remind the audiences of the
significance of the historic period.

 According to the
organisers, the ‘Iron Heart Stage Design’ will feature various elements like a gramophone,
furnace, steam vents, etc, thereby making it visually appealing and dedicated to
the Industrial Revolution. VJ KayCee from Pixado, the man behind the
conception and design of this stage has worked on stage visuals and designs
with Chinapa since 2007. The overall stage theme is ‘Steam Punk’, which
according to the organisers, is like a complete culture. It is driven by
the thought, that had it not been for the Industrial Revolution, petrol engines
would not have been invented and hence everything would be driven by the power
of steam.

To
add that extra zing, the stage will also feature a mechanical snail with fire-throwers fitted
on its head and smoke billowing mechanism on its shell. Smoke billowing from chimneys and fires
fuelling giant furnaces are near-perfect visual descriptions which capture the
very essence of the Industrial Revolution. Additionally, right above the DJ is a mechanical heart, with movable parts
and a metal grunge finish. According
to the organisers, “It is the essential focus of the entire stage which is why
the stage will be called the Iron Heart.”

Pleased with the level
of detail which has been incorporated in the making of the stage, Chinapa
concludes, “I’m really proud of the work we’ve accomplished with our
stage designs this year and especially pleased with the level of
detailing of our Mainstage, the Iron Heart.” Even as the music-lovers
immerse themselves in the addictive music on the stage by some of the world’s
top performers, a visit to the ‘Iron Heart Stage’ merely for its visual appeal
appears to be worth a shot.
