In the recently held 11th Popular Tiatr
Competition organized by Tiatr Academy of Goa, the tiatr ‘Ho Uzo Palounk Zata’ presented by Epiphania
Menezes, written and directed by Mario Menezes bagged the 1st place
for performance in the competition while the tiatrs, ‘Bhailean Butter
Bhitorlean Gutter’ staged by comedian Dominic & his troupe, written
and directed by comedian Dominic stood 2nd and ‘Khell’ presented
by Machi Mogi Morjim Cultural Sanskrutic Saunstha’ written and directed by
John Alexandro Fernandes won the 3rd place respectively. The Awards for Best Performance were presented at the hands of
Director, Art & Culture Department, and President of Tiatr Academy of Goa
Shri. Sagun R. Velip on 3rd July 2020 at the Multipurpose
Hall of Art & Culture Department, Panaji Goa in the presence of
Shri. Ashok Parab, Dy. Director, Art & Culture and Shri. Cezar
D’Mello, Member Secretary, TAG. The competition was judged by well-known tiatr
personalities Shri. Wilson Mazarello, Fr. Rolland Lin Fernandes and Shri.
Socorro Fernandes. In all 8 tiatr troupes participated in the competition. Shri. Sagun Velip, President of TAG welcomed the Guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Sagun Velip congratulated the winners and said
due to the competitions we can see more creativity among the tiatrists. Shri. Mario Menezes thanked TAG for the presentation of the
award and requested the Director of Art & Culture to financially support
the tiatrist who are entirely dependent only on Tiatr since
because of COVID 19 all the public performances have been stopped and
they don’t have any source of income. Shri. Cezar D’Mello Member Secretary
of TAG proposed a vote of thanks. The function was compered by well-known
tiatr personality Shri. Pradeep Naik. The program was held
following the social distance.
