This time the festival of Ganesh will be low key
celebration at my place. We have not invited any guests and will be trying our
best to maintain hygiene and social distancing at the same time. The fun of the
festival is not going to be reduced in the hearts of Ganesh bhakts but we will
be definitely missing the guests and visiting friends place to take the
blessings of the Lord.

PooChavat is one such festival which every Goan
eagerly waits for. Even in the tough time of this Covid 19, the excitement is
the same. Well, my family will celebrate Ganesh Chaturti in the month of
Bhadrapad only, celebrations won’t be grand as it used to happen every
year.Lord Ganesha is known as lord of Ecology, celebrations at my house will be
in a very eco friendly style, taking preventive measures and following the
heritage customs and traditions.

The glitter, excitement and enthusiasm for this
festival is usually over the moon. But this year, the celebrations will not be
as exciting as always. For the first time, I will be unable to travel to my
native place and will instead take blessings of Lord Ganesha using the digital
mode. Festivals bring the fun and family together. Our only hope is to come out
of this situation soon, and see people from various religions celebrating their
festivals with much excitement and fun.

We will have the Ganesh idol brought to
our house as usual and it will be made of mud. Everything is usual, we however
will not be going in groups with neighbors and people living in our locality
while immersing the idol, We will not be inviting anyone and it will be within
our family and we will not use fiire crackers to avoid unnecessary pollution.

Every year we used to get someone from
outside to decorate the house for Ganesh Chaturthi, but this year we made it
ourselves by bringing together various ideas put forward by members of the
family. It made me feel pretty talented. This year for Ganesh Chaturthi we will
be inviting few friends and relatives due to the pandemic. By taking all the
precautions we are planning to have a safe and blessed Ganesh Chaturthi.

This year we are celebrating Ganesh Chathurthi
differently. Usually our relatives would all gather and would celebrate with a
great deal of enthusiasm but due to pandemic most of our relatives will not be
visiting and so it will be just us family members doing pooja and will be
immersing the idol separately and not with our neighbours.

This year Ganesh chaturthi will be different due
to the pandemic of Corona virus .Face mask and use of Hand sanitizer along with
social distancing shall be made compulsory
Extra precautions will be taken for the elderly
people and children’ during this Ganesh Utsav. Will try to have minimal use of
firecrackers during the Ganesh Utsav. Certain arrangements will be made to
avoid large gathering. Only one family at a time will be allowed to have
darshan Will try to avoid idols made from Plaster of Paris as practised every
year.
