In Lobera we trust, chant the Gaur Army of fans

So it was the old fre-nemy (friendly enemy on the field), Chennaiyin FC. As FC Goa’s first opponent and a 3-0 drubbing of the visitors made the chants and the confidence of the Gaurs grow. And they did not forget to thank the boss Sergio Lobera, the coach

The home ground, the first match and an energised FC Goa. When it comes to
football, Goa knows how to take the lead. The opening match for FC Goa in the
Indian Super League 2019-20 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda was
encouraging as they won it 3-0. For their second match in the league, the FC
Goa squad is all set to take on Bengaluru FC on October 28, 2019 at 7:30pm,
again on home ground.

With the fans super excited about the
game, here is what they felt about the team’s performance:

I couldn’t have asked for a better start
to the season for the Gaurs. To start with eight Indians and then bring on
three development players just shows Sergio Lobera has come a long way with
this squad. We scored three amazing team goals with the clean sheet being the
icing on the cake!

In the first match, Goa was missing the
services of Jahouh (suspension), Hugo and Edu Bedia. In spite of that, they
played really well. Sergio Lobera trusted his Indian players and they came up
with a strong performance. I think Goa played well as a unit and I am sure the
upcoming matches will be more fun and entertaining to watch. As a diehard fan,
this was the first match I missed watching at the stadium as I am pursuing
sports management at GISB Mumbai. #BeGoa

JOHANN CONCEICAO, Pirna

It was an exciting match. All the players played really well and
the team is looking strong as we played with eight Indian players. I personally
think that we are the strongest contenders to lift the trophy this year. In Lobera
we trust and the Cup is coming home.

DEEPTESH DESAI, Cuncolim

Goans were very excited to witness the Gaurs play on home turf
after a very good pre-season and winning the Super Cup last year. It was truly
a champion’s performance how the Gaurs outplayed and dominated the game.
Despite the absence of foreign players like Edu Bedia, Boumous and Jahouh, our
local lads proved that they can still perform and put in a top class
performance in front of their fans on the home soil. Overall, it was an excellent
display of football and three points in the bag. Looking forward to more games
like this from Sergio Lobera’s FC Goa.

AUGUSTINE D’MELLO, Moira

Sergio Lobera has a plethora of talents and with an incredible
combination of Indian and foreign signings, FC Goa are the favourites this
season. The first home game was lit up with a beautiful game displayed by Len
Doungel, Manvir Singh, Coro and clean sheet by Nawaz. On the other hand, it was
impressive to note that Coach Lobera played eight Indians and three foreigners
and put up a great show bringing much joy to the 12th Man – Gaur Army.

SIDHARTH MEHTA, Margao

The first home game was a cracker of a start and now we are
looking forward to continuing the same momentum and taking revenge for last season’s
finals with the upcoming game against Bengaluru FC. The future is orange. I’m
delighted that more opportunities are created for Indian players and I am happy
for Princeton Rebello’s debut in the last match.
