‘An evening of Young Goan Talent in Concert’, an upcoming program showcasing Western classical music, performed by nine talented young Goan musicians, is an endeavour to encourage and promote young musical talent in Goa. It promises to be a unique and mesmerising experience

 The nine musical prodigies in the ‘Young Goan Talent’ Concert will be performing Western
classical music on the piano, violin, classical guitar, as well as singing.
Organised by Promusica and Furtados, the concert is unique in Goa in terms of
its focus on young performers, with the aim to highlight their talent, and to
promote the scene of Western classical music among the youth in Goa.
Music-lovers are invited to come and enjoy this evening of music and to
encourage the young performers in their musical endeavours. The concert is set
to take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Angels Resort, Porvorim from 5 pm,
and on Friday, April 27at Clube Harmonia, Margao from 7 pm.

The nine performers have achieved
excellence in their respective instruments, and have secured high
qualifications in their formal study of music. The group includes youngsters of
different ages, with the youngest being just 12 years old.

Ravi Almeida has been playing the violin
since he was 12, and currently teaches it at Child’s Play, India. He is a
member of the Indian National Youth Orchestra (INYO), as well as local
orchestras including the Indo German Orchestra.

Also on the violin is Frederika Cotta, who
began studying it aged 5, and has since completed the ACTL and LTCL violin
exams of Trinity College, London, in addition to her participation in several
orchestras including INYO and the Canada India Youth Orchestra. The youngest,
Anthea Luna-Marie M Dias, aged 12, started learning the violin at age 6, and by
age 11 had achieved her advanced Grade 8 certificate as well as her ACTL
diploma. She is currently pursuing her LCTL and has performed with INYO and
local orchestras.

Dayn Eustaquio Cotta began learning the piano when he was 10,
and has secured the ACTL Recital Diploma, as well as completed his 8th grade in
music theory. He is a member of Opus Gala, and has been involved in organising
various cultural programs.

Also on piano is Aditi Esther Mascarenhas, 15, who has completed
her Grade 8 of Trinity College, London with distinction. Ruxandro De Souza, 17,
has been studying piano since he was 10; he achieved his ATCL in 2016 and is preparing
for LTCL this year.

Myron Mascarenhas is a triple threat with classical guitar,
music theory and violin.He has achieved his ATCL and is now pursuing LCTL.
Currently giving guitar lessons, he is known for his work as playback singer in
the film ‘Enemy?’.

Amanda Rodrigues, 14, plays both violin and piano, having passed
Grade 8 in the former and preparing for Grade 8 in the latter. She is also a
member of the Goa State String Orchestra.

Kim
Ann Costa Figueiredo has achieved her ATCL in singing soprano. Though a teacher
at present, she continues to sing as a hobby and has participated in various
concerts and choirs including the Goa University Choir.
