Learning Inferno’s secrets before the US

Breaking away from the norm of releasing in India after the US release, Hollywood film ‘Inferno’ will set ablaze the screens here before heading home to America.

While this isn’t the first time this is happening, as ‘The Jungle Book’ was
released one week before the US in 15 countries including India on April 8,
2016, Ron Howard’s ‘Inferno’ holds a special place in the hearts of book lovers
of Goa, as it is the adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestseller of the same name.

Based
on the fourth book in the Robert Langdon series, this mystery thriller is the
third book by Brown to be made into a film, with Ron Howard donning the
director’s mantle once again and Tom Hanks reprising his role as symbologist
Langdon. The film also stars Felicity Jones and Irrfan Khan.

Pankaj
Natekar from Mapusa is an avid reader and has completed reading the Robert
Langdon series. “It is again the combination of Dan Brown and Ton Hanks and I
am excited to watch the first day first show. I have read the book and I hope
the film doesn’t stray away from the script. The film is even more exciting as
Irrfan Khan is a fantastic actor and from what is seen in the trailers, he will
be great in his role. Irrfan has done Hollywood films and it speaks volumes
about his talent,” says Pankaj.

Grace
Noronha from Margao is also looking forward to the film. “Book adaptations are
always risky because it’s difficult to fit in every detail of a 600-word book
into a two-hour movie. If possible, I prefer watching the film before reading
the book so that I enter without expectations and have a lot to look forward to
in the reading experience. I really liked the previous Langdon films and
Howard’s work so far, so I’m hoping for the best with ‘Inferno’.”

I am super excited
about the film ‘Inferno’ as I completed reading the book from cover to cover as
soon as it was out. I am anticipating a good plot and a great performance by
Irrfan Khan. Dan Brown was involved in the filmmaking and I am expecting a good
movie. Of all the book adaptations into films, I think only ‘Godfather’, ‘Gone
Girl’ and ‘The Day of the Jackal’ came very close to the book.

Releasing in India
before the US makes a huge difference because for a change, I can tell my
friends how the movie is and if its worth the money. This gives me a positive
feeling about how India is a big contributor in the world economy. Like any
other Dan Brown book, ‘Inferno’ should be mysterious and should make me sit on
the edge of the seat. The book is just out of this world and want it to be
portrayed similar to what I had imagine while I was reading this book.

I completed
reading ‘Da Vinci Code’ quickly but with ‘Inferno’, I read the book before the
film was out. I read the book patiently so that I don’t miss out on anything,
giving importance to each detail in the book. I want to watch the movie and see
how the book is adapted into a film. I am waiting to see Italy and its
monuments on the big screen as the book was based in Italy.
