Well-known
entertainment icon and ace dance performer William Anes has been selected as King Momo for Goa Carnaval
2019. A committee constituted by Goa Tourism selected Anes, who was one among
the three applicants aspiring to lead Goa Carnaval between March 2 and 5, 2019.
William Anes, age 53, resident of Panjim and a native of the
island-village of Divar, is well known in the entertainment industry for
hosting shows, both nationally and internationally.
The tall, charming Anes has also featured on the international
platform in Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Das Island and other overseas locations,
promoting Goa’s music and dance. He has played a significant role in organising
Carnival dances in Panjim and has been contributing his best at float parades
during the Carnival since 1982. Thrilled to be King Momo for the first time, he
said, “It has always been my wish to be King Momo and I am all set to enthral
Goa and all visitors to the state for the four-day Carnival celebrations. I
will strongly advocate for peace, harmony and a clean and green Goa during my
four-day term as King Momo.”
While
being selected as King Momo, in his message, Anes states that as Goans, we are
all one despite religion or caste: “Goa is a paradise, and we should all be
responsible towards it.” He also humbly requested the youth of Goa to ride and drive
safely. So, here comes William Anes as King Momo for Goa Carnaval 2019, as a
Sea God along the float designed artistically by Siddhesh Vinayak.
