‘Mopa Diary’, a new Konkani film, is
about to hit theatres soon. With the lead role played by John D’Silva, the film
has been directed by Mahesh Rane and produced by Suresh Sinari of V P Sinari
and Sons. The film has been edited by Sanjay Hosmane and Ketan Madiwale, with
cinematography by Khushdeep Singh. The cast also includes Antonet DeSouza,
Satish Gawas, Anil Pednekar and Pranjal Marathe.
Speaking about the film, John D’Silva
says, “A few years ago, Konkani films were not released frequently. It is not
enough that only movies are released, they should also be enjoyed by the
audience. For the first time, I’m working on a thriller and I urge all Goans to
watch ‘Mopa Diary’ in the theatre.”
The story is based on how a journalist
lands up in Mopa village and finds out that there is more going on in the
village than what meets the eye. “The film is based on a social issue and is a purely
entertaining film, which is a murder mystery. John is known for his comedy and
as the emperor of the Konkani stage but in this film, he is doing something
from his own image,” says Director Mahesh Rane, who previously directed
‘Vizmit’. The 90 minutes film was shot in the villages of Savoi Verem,
Vangurme, Mulgao, Tivim, Taleigao and Panjim.
The film will premiere on August 22,
2019 at 7:30pm at Pai Tiatrist Hall, Margao and the Panjim screening will be
held on August 25, 2019 at ESG, Panjim at 3:30pm.
