Don Bosco College of Agriculture, Sulcorna and SEED Foundation have collaborated to launch
‘Organically Yours’, a people’s movement aimed at encouraging organic farming
and making healthy lifestyle changes. The initiative is an ongoing effort to
educate Goa’s young generation on the nuances of agriculture and healthy
farming practices and encourage them to take up farming as a profession.

Organically Yours has
initiated a community programme where registered members will have access to
fresh organic local produce grown in the expansive farms at Don Bosco College
of Agriculture at Sulcorna. Registered members will be intimated about the
availability of freshly harvested produce on a regular basis. Interested members
can collect the produce from collection points located at Margao and Panjim
respectively. The produce will be available for collection fresh off the cart
devoid of plastic packaging which in turn helps reduce waste.

A tour of the farm in
Sulcorna and its facilities was organised for the first 100 registered members
of Organically Yours programme. Members were oriented on the best practices
employed at the institute by the students and faculty members.

Says Fr Allwyn,
Director, Don Bosco College of Agriculture, “The Don Bosco College of
Agriculture is committed to imparting knowledge of the highest level to its
students and empowering them with the necessary skill sets. Organically Yours
which has been launched in collaboration with SEED Foundation is another step
in that direction.”

David DeSouza of SEED
Foundation explains, “Most of the lifestyle diseases which are common today
stem from mindless consumption. Very often the food we consume is highly
processed and laden with chemicals, fertilisers, pesticides and preservatives.
Today vegetables are laced with chemicals, fruits are forced ripened and meats
are injected with steroid and decay preventing chemicals. Through Organically
Yours, we want to offer consumers the choice of healthy, organic producewhich
can be made accessible to all. Consumers have a right to clean food and we want
to make that happen.”

The concept was
supported by Radisson Blu hotel, which saw the GM Victor Soares along with his
team in attendance. Executive Chef Mahesh along with his team created a special
menu that features fresh produce sourced from the farms at Sulcorna.

David
DeSouza appeals, “As www.organicallyyours.live goes live, we request the people
of Goa to support us with best wishes and prayers in bringing about a delightful
healthy change in the lives of people of Goa and beyond. Come and join us we
are Organically Yours. Our Mantra is ‘Eat Fresh Eat Local Eat Healthy’.”
