PCCE hosts National Level Industry-Institute convention

AARUSH 2019: Lighting the
Future, the fifth edition of a national level industry-institute convention was
hosted by Padre
Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE) Verna in association with Goa State
Council for Science and Technology, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Goa
Technology Association (GTA) and Centre for Business Incubation and Acceleration
(CIBA) on August 13 and 14, 2019. This edition aimed at
addressing various issues of entrepreneurship, bridging the gaps between
industry and academia and building up one’s future.

The
Chief Guest for the Inaugural function was Dr R K Singh, Secretary Indian
Nuclear Society and Media And Public Awareness Head, BARC. He delivered a
keynote address on ‘Atomic Energy for Nation Development’. He took the audience
into the world of BARC and made everyone aware of the great potential that
nuclear energy has to change the future. He also cited being extremely happy to
be present at such a unique industry institute meet and looked forward to
coming back to Padre Conceicao College of Engineering for future endeavors. The
second keynote was delivered by Jason Fernandes, COO and Co-founder of AEToken
on the topic ‘Blockchain, the most disruptive 21st century
Technology’. The Guest of Honour, Ganesh Venkatakrishnan from Broadcom, Bangalore,
spoke about ‘Deconstructing a product; how are SoCs designed?’

The
convention featured other sessions by CEOs, Founders and senior engineer personnel
such as Ryan Pinto and Noel Rodrigues from Innovantix Systems Pvt Ltd; Chetan
Desai and Shubhang Borkar  from Cyanodoc;
Rohin Parkar and Malcom D’Souza from Mrinq Technologies LLP; Ramniwas Mourya
from Buoyancy Consultants and Engineering LLP; George Pais, Optessa Solutions
and Rohan Rodrigues, Mckinsey and Company; Yadnesh Sanzgiri, Optel Group;
Anshul Mahale, Sun 360; Vincent Toscano, Uzoorba; Amit Tamba, Freethink LLP;
Ashley D’Souza, Hexcoderz; Kunal Kerker from Helix Tech; Milind Anvekar from Open
Destinationsinfotech; Raj Kunkolienkar from Nova Semita.

There
were career talks by various centres such as Dipak Shah, Deputy Director from Institute
of Maritime Studies; Shyam Manavat from Maxxcell; Vishal Agarwal from Lakshya
Academy; Malcom Dias from TIME Goa; Ketakiki from Study Global Goa; Aarti Desprabhu
from Edutek Solutions; and Ryan Vaz from Infinyt 3D.

There
was also a project exhibition wherein students from various colleges were
provided a platform to showcase their technological innovations. AARUSH 2019
featured a stimulating panel discussiontheme as ‘Keep Pace to stay in the
Race’. The panel consisted of distinguished guests from Industry such as
Sangeeta Naik, partner and executive director of Digital Goa; Amey Karmali, CEO,  CIBA; Rohin Parkar, Milind Anvekar, Ganesh
Venkatakrishnan and Raj Kunkolienkar. The panel discussion was efficiently
moderated by Dr Niyan Marchon, Associate Professor and Head of TPO at PCCE,
covering many aspects and issues to bridge the gaps between academia and
Industry. The Panel discussion was
extremely interactive and it was nice to hear about current trends and
technologies in the engineering world. Students were able to voice their
concerns and the institution took down pointers that could possibly be
implemented to make engineering studies more interesting and apt so as to
cultivate a society of all round engineers.
