It is without a doubt amongst the most prestigious football leagues in the world and the fortunes of the various teams are followed with great interest around the world. When the league was stopped, there was first speculation that it would be abandoned for the season and then reports came out of various quarters that Liverpool would be awarded the title because they were so far ahead of the rest. But now all that has been put to rest with the season restarting.
For me, it’s one of the best things to happen since the lockdown. Although a few other leagues have already started, it’s the EPL which gets me the most excited, and that’s the same with most Goans, I suppose. I think it’s going to be a bit strange with empty stadiums. Maybe the broadcasters can innovate with some virtual AI to improve the experience. I’m a United Fan & I hope Ole’s troops finish in the top 4. GGMU…! – Omi, Musician, Vasco
Football without fans will definitely lack the game atmosphere, but having football back after 2months is much better. From a neutral point of view, I admire LFC’s football, they deserve to win their first title in almost 30 years –Sameer Shirodkar, Student, Margao.
It was never about the integrity of the league it was all about money. The Premier League should have come straight out and said that I think most fans would have appreciated the honesty. Having tried to watch some of the German football I’m still not convinced it’s the real thing – it feels more like glorified friendlies– Juvot Dcosta, Student, Sao Jose De Areal
First of all, as a Manchester United fan I’m really happy that EPL is coming back after the lockdown. Of course it’s a strange atmosphere to watch a football match without the fans in the stadium. Those chants, cheers and everything that they do to support their team, but it is also important to make the best out of this bad situation rather than leaving the game behind- Shvetang Prabhudesai, Arlem , Student
Just happy that the season is back on track. Liverpool are going to win the League because they’ve been really good this season, but it’s going to be disappointing since there won’t be any fans, but if that’s the way the games are to be played then so be it, because something’s better than nothing– Carlson Gonsalves, Student Majorda
EPL starting again will bring some positivity and happiness for most of the football fans who are at home. But what all will be missed is the fans support for the teams, which acts as the 12th man. Even for Liverpool, which is the clear winner, it will be pretty strange for them as well without their fans. As a Chelsea fan I’m eagerly waiting up for the start of the season again and ready to cheer for my team sitting in front of my TV– Tanmay Bhagat, Student Ponda
I’m sure Liverpool fans would be the happiest right now. However, it will be a new experience for both the viewers and players. A lot of fun will be missing, especially the level of energy the crowd gets in with them which motivates the players. This can switch the momentum of the match and impact the match results. Just hoping for the best– Savio Vaz, Engineering analyst, Macasana
