Raia is the first village to cut and bless
the first corn this year. This ritual took place on Saturday morning, after the
Holy Mass. Fr Leonardo Moraes, the Parish Priest of the church, performed the
ritual in the presence of hundreds of devotees at a place known as Saibiniche
Kongi in Raia.
Fr Joaquim Fernandes (SVD,Raia) was the
main celebrant for the Mass. In his homily, he spoke about Mother Mary being
our merciful mother and implored the devotees to incorporate her virtues in
their day-to-day lives.
