An evening of Recollection of Goan Traditions
with the theme ‘Maria Sangata Somudayanchea Ekvottachi Sanz’ was held at St
Thomas Church, Aldona to bring fellowship among the parishioners. The program
started with the brass band on the stage, welcoming the crowd. The program
formally started with the short prayer followed by Prayer dance. Speaking on
the occasion Parish Priest Fr Thomas Lobo said that there is need to retain
Goan traditions when it comes to our traditional food and local games.
Taking another step forward on the occasion,
paper bags with the theme of Can Survive Campaign and Plastic free Goa was
also launched.
Traditional food that was brought by the people
was later served to everyone gathered. Several traditional games were played
according to Somudai groups such as Tennikoit, Seven tiles, tug of war, etc.
In the evening, various cultural events such as
Mando, Dekhni, Musical plays, and others were held. Finally the whole program
was ended with short prayer.
