Resolutions are made of these…

As we ring in the New Year, we invariably make up a set of resolutions to carry us through the year. Café speaks to a cross-section of people who have resolved to make and keep a few resolutions for 2015

Patricia Ann Alvares

Yatin Kakodkar

President
ICG, Director Apex Packaging Pvt Ltd

Realising
late in the year that the hopes I nurtured for a healthy life-work balance in
2014 have been dashed, my resolve for sharper time-management in 2015 has
become all the more stronger. Even if that means keeping pesky phone calls at
bay, skipping dodgy social dos, and warning wily staff not to ambush me at work
with heaps of paperwork.

John D’Silva

Tiatrist/actor/director/producer

Through my tiatrs and VCD films, I will spread the message to save what is left of our Goa. I will also deal firmly and severely with anyone who asks for a bribe from me.

Aneesh Gera

International DJ

Personally, to just relax and chill and appreciate the smaller things
in life. Professionally, to spend more time in Goa and push the Goan and Indian
industry more.

Tomazinho Cardozo

Editor – Amcho Avaz

I would like to work toward promoting peace in society, especially in
the direction of conversion that is preventing social peace and in such a
manner that can be achieved through law or goodwill of the people.

Eduardo Kol de Carvalho

Director – Fundacao Oriente

I would like to deepen my knowledge of art, literature and culture of
Goa and India. It is something I do every day as I continue meeting many
interesting people. Last year, we did a monograph on A X Trindade and this year
we are planning a biography of Angela Trindade.

Melwyn Noronha

Official National Costume
Designer for Femina Miss India

To relax and take care of my health as I am a workaholic. I want to
take a step back from everything and plan things out in a better manner so I
can make better work choices and make time for myself. Also, to get more
recognition for India on the global map, both in fashion as well as music.

Surendra Furtado

Mayor – CCP Panjim

My first resolve for the New Year is to serve the people of Panjim and
complete all pending works and hope and pray that I will be elected. I also
hope to make more leisure time for myself once things have settled down.

Rajendra Talak

Film Producer and Director

Personally, I look forward to undertaking two projects – one is
building Kalangan –Centre for the Performing Arts, and the other is dedicated
to ‘Clean Margao, Green Margao’. Till I commence these projects, I won’t be
working on any films. In fact, for the next 10 years, I resolve to devote my
time wholeheartedly to making Margao the best city in Goa.

Cecile Rodrigues

DID Super Mom and Owner, CAPA
Studio

To stop having too many late nights. Sleep for eight hours. Spend more
quality mother-son time as well as family time. To never give up dancing and to
exhort my students to make fitness a priority.

Isabel S R Vas

Theatre –MSAC/Writer

I want to explore other avenues of creativity I can get into. To
continue with my research for my next play and to give my home a thorough
dusting – open old cupboards and decide what I want to keep and what I want to
let go of, both in the physical and metaphorical sense.

Harshada Kerkar

Artist/Harshada Art Gallery

To reduce the use of plastic paints and its resultant pollution. To
personally take and encourage other artists to take more inspiration from
nature and life. As a gallery, to have more live drawing workshops.

Sonia Parab

Professional Boxer

To put even more effort and energy into my boxing. I am eagerly looking
forward to my fight at the MMA and also hope to go into the third fight in
professional boxing. My resolution is to participate and shine in both. I also
want to encourage young girls to take up boxing as a sport.

Gail D’Silva

Miss United Continents 2014 – 1st
Princess

My resolution is to work equally hard to achieve my goals as 2014 was
an exceptionally great year for me. And I also want to start something big in Goa
that would help young passionate girls achieve their dreams.

David D’Souza

Owner – Club Tito’s

On the professional front, it would be to start a new night club and on
the personal front, to spend as much time as I can with my daughter as she is
growing up so fast!

K K Sekhar

Real Estate Developer – Milroc

I would like to go the healthy way this year by giving up fried food
and getting on a bicycle. Focus on better work and life/family balance. On the
professional front, I want to venture into more affordable housing.

Aarati Pinto Pereira

India Book of Records – Unique Nail
Art (2014)

To aspire for the World Book of Records, to get more creative and do
nail art for Bollywood celebrities. And more importantly, to visit my family in
Kathmandu; something I have not done in the past three years.
