Acharya an actor and film-maker has been working zealously to create voting
awareness among people. According to him, in Goa today majority of the people
are literate and in fact has high access to technology, hence Goans need make
use f their right to vote and their ability to vote. Acharya reveals that there
are so many people writing emails to him asking him the procedures to make a
voter’s Id if they haven’t already. He has also visited people around the far
off places in Goa going to door to door and making people embrace their right
to vote.

“My job as a State Election Icon is not to influence their mind
and make them biased, but to motivate them and help them understand how
necessary it is to vote,” he explains
“I believe my work as an icon is only over when he person
presses the button and I hear the beep from the ballet,” say Acharya
DR MEENACSHI MARTINS
Actress and
Psychologist Dr Meenacshi Martins who is an election icon for the upcoming
elections has been busy meeting people, creating awareness through her
campaigns, conducting Rallies and posting voting awareness posts on the social
media. Along with her group she has also conducted several training programs on
how to use the EVM machine with accurate instructions. Today Dr Martins travels
to south Goa for a voting awareness campaign.
She says that this year’s election is more empowered and the
main aim is to focuses on Accessibility to vote for all and everyone’. They
have made arrangements for the disabled especially to be encouraged and vote.
In her message to the people she explains how important voting
is, “That day is not a holiday, we don’t need to take it lightly and go on a
picnic, every eligible voter must vote, that is how they become a responsible
citizen.”
She
also instructs everyone to study their candidate completely before voting, and
if no one fits the category then must simple vote NOTA (None of the above)
