Let’s admit it – we all love taking
pictures. And now, with smartphones boasting snazzy cameras and almost all
operating systems supporting photo-related social media apps, like Instagram
and Facebook, almost everyone is found shooting the subject of their choice and
uploading it. Perhaps it was this observation, clubbed with a motive of showcasing
the greener side of Goa that made Goa Tourism start an initiative by the name
of Goa Instawalk few months ago. The activity gave the participants an
opportunity to showcase their passion for photography along with experiencing
the cultural and natural aspect of Goa during the much awaited monsoons. The
event was such a success that the organisers organised a second edition, Goa
Instawalk 2.0, a few weeks ago.
Apart from Goa Instawalk, another event
that is grabbing the attention of many is CamEra. Organised by Banglanatak dot
com – a social enterprise working across India with a mission to foster
pro-poor growth and protection of rights of women, children and indigenous
communities, CamEra is an innovative initiative to engage youth to heritage,
through their lenses and also to reach out to the common man by holding public
place exhibitions. The initiative was first introduced in Kolkata in 2013 and
in Bhubaneshwar earlier this year.
So grab your DSLRs, smartphones or whatever
it is that will help you capture memories and go shoot! This is one ‘shooting’,
you won’t be prosecuted for.
