From old favourites to a
couple of gatecrashers with their first-ever appearance at the
knockout stages, the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 feature a healthy
mix of names that represent all areas. Giants have been knocked out
as well, with Spain having been swatted by Italy, England being
frozen out by Iceland and Croatia (who were hot favourites to win the
tournament) having been sent packing by Portugal. The Iceland story
is also one of legend, though it may be fair to note that they are
yet to face an insurmountable challenge, given that England were
underwhelming against them. Antonio Conte’s Italian side has been
seen as the resurgence of the ‘Azzurri’, while Poland are the
best side that Germany has had to face till now, which is enough said
about both teams, with many saying that if
the latter gets
past Italy,
they’ll likely go on to win it. Over in Goa, many are hoping that
Portugal manages to fire on all cylinders in tonight’s encounter
against Poland. But bearing all of this in mind, Café looks at what
a young Goa expects and desires from the tournament.
