St. Andrew’s HSS building to be inaugurated on December 10

 The new St.
Andrew’s Higher Secondary
School
building at Vaddem, Vasco will be inaugurated and blessed at the hands of His
Grace Most Rev. Fr. Filipe Neri Ferrao, Archbishop Patriarch of Goa and Daman
on December 10. Having been established in June 1995, the institution has
completed over two decades of providing quality education to students of Vasco
and its surrounding areas.

The Higher Secondary
School initially started with Arts, Commerce and Vocational stream and was
functioning in the evening session in the church campus due to lack of its own
premises. The then manager of the institution Rev. Fr. Jose Antonio Da Costa
was instrumental in starting the Science stream in the year 2014. A priest with
a great vision, Rev Fr Jose Antonio Da Costa felt that if St Andrew’s higher
secondary had to grow, then there was a need of a separate premises with
quality infrastructure for its growth. He started construction of the new
premises at Vaddem in front of the Lake with the blessings and help of the
Vasco Parishioners and well-wishers. His successor former manager of the
institution and present Parish Priest of St Andrew Church Vasco, Rev Fr Gabriel
Coutinho, a priest who always strives for quality education, was instrumental
in completing the project. Fr. Gabriel besides ensuring quality infrastructure
for the staff and students also strived very hard to ensure quality enhancement
of teachers and the teaching process. The previous managers of the institution
include Rev. Fr. Saturnino Dias, Rev. Fr. Aquilio Gomes and Rev Fr. Britto
Furtado.

St. Andrew’s Higher
Secondary besides being well known for good results, is also known for good
discipline and value based education, which has been emphasized time and again.
Besides this, students are also encouraged to take part in Cultural and Sports
activities, thus ensuring an all round development of each and every student.
The present manager Rev Fr. Camilo Dias and principal Mr. Walter Cabral has
been a source of constant support and inspiration under whose leadership the
institution will definitely rise to greater heights. This building is yet
another milestone in the short history of the institution.

With
the new premises coupled with excellent, competent and experienced management
and staff, St. Andrew’s Higher Secondary School would definitely strive to
create a conducive environment that would invigorate excellence in knowledge
through value based education, aimed at triggering all round development of the
students thus enabling them to scale greater heights of success with a sound
and humane value based touch. The location has a cool ambience close to the
Vaddem lake and an ideal place for studies and recreational activities for the
students. The statue of St. Andrew, patron saint of Vasco church, installed in
front of the college building, was unveiled on November 30, the feast day of
the saint.
