Students get in the festive spirit

The Department of Sociology at Fr Agnel College Pilar, organised an inter-class ‘Kopel
making competition’ on June 24, 2019 in the college hall. The aim of having
this competition was to create awareness among students on the tradition of
‘Kopel’ and on the availability of local and wild flowers and fruits in Goa.

Nineteen groups of
five students each participated in the competition. The first prize was bagged
by FYBCom (B) while the runners up were FYBA (A) students.

Principal
Dr Savio P Falleiro congratulated the prize winners and spoke on the unique
tradition in Goa. He appreciated and congratulated the efforts of the staff and
students. Dr Biula Pereira, the overall coordinator of the programme
highlighted the tradition of kopel making as an important aspect of Goan
culture during the feast of Sao Joao. Ruth Mendes, Conchita Vas and Elizabeth
Pires were the judges for the competition. Student coordinator of the programme
was Sairaj Bhat from TYBA.
