The beach is never out of fashion!

India Beach Fashion Week and Festival is back in its 2017 avatar, bringing with it the best from the worlds of fashion, lifestyle and music. Café finds out what’s in store

There’s not going to be any respite from
the sweltering heat just as yet, as the temperatures along the sun-kissed
shores of Goa are set to soar even higher with the India Beach Fashion Week and
Festival (IBFW) 2017 that begins this Monday. The three-day festival is going
to showcase the latest trends in fashion, touted to be one of the most awaited
resort and bridal couture for the Spring Summer Surprise. The makers of the
festival feel that IBFW has been successful in creating a niche in this segment
by capturing the hearts and minds of the stylish and the fashionable from
across the globe, over the last three seasons. This season will attempt just
that and more as the festival is expected to witness a host of talented
designers showcasing their latest trends in beach wear and bridal couture. A
number of new-age young designers are debuting on the ramp, hoping to display
their creativity and alluring fashion line over the three-day event, with
buyers, top celebrities and high net worth individuals from across the globe
expected to attend the affair.

This season, IBFW will have industry icon
and fashion designer Anupama Dayal opening the festival. The festival promises
three days of unlimited fashion that will focus on men’s fashion, destination
bridal couture and a grand finale. The festival will showcase exclusive
collections from top designers like Arjun Khanna, who will be leading the
finale show on the first day. Khanna’s collection will focus on exclusive men’s
wear at an offsite location. Day two will feature exquisite destination bridal
wear. The final day will have a mix of couture with the finale show by Suneet
Verma who will present the resort bride collection.

The property of Goa Marriott Resort and
Spa, the venue of IBFW, will be divided into multiple arenas – the festival
arena has been dedicated to a pop-up bazaar featuring around 100 pop-up stalls
of local designers and Goan brands. The space will be shared by an ‘Exhibition
arena’ where the designers participating in IBFW 2017 will have their stalls
and those interested can meet, interact with the designers and shop. Music
lovers can make a beeline towards the ‘Live music arena’ that will feature
curated live music in the evening. The makers of the festival have also
organised what they are calling ‘Tete-a-tea’, – a high tea session where
prominent names from the world of fashion, art, blogging and media can meet and
greet. The session being a great opportunity for business and networking, this is
a crucial addition to the festival. About two seasons ago, the organisers of
IBFW started an initiative called ‘Made in Goa’, which will be one of the
things to look forward to at IBFW this year. ‘Made in Goa’ is designed to
create a global platform for Goa based designers, artists, textiles and
handicraft to showcase their talent to the global audience.

Over the previous three seasons, IBFW has
hosted designers such as Wendell Rodricks, Neeta Lulla, Varun Bahl, Falguni
& Shane Peacock, James Ferreira, Rocky S, Pria Kataria Puri, Manoviraj
Khosla, Mayur Girotra, Asmita Marwah, Anupama Dayal, Nachiket Bharve, Rakesh
Agarwal, Akkriti, Urvashi Kaur, Dev R Nil, Ken Ferns, MapxencaRS and Babita
Malkani, among others. A few celebrities like Sushmita Sen, Lisa Haydon, Aditi
Rao Hydari, Rana Daggubati, Neha Dhupia, Sooraj Pancholi, Anushka Ranjan, Richa
Chaddha, Evelyn Sharma, Shibani Dandekar, Anusha Dandekar, Nausheed Cyrusi,
Amyra Dastur, Pooja Gupta and Adah Sharma have lent their oomph and appeal to
the show by walking the ramp for designers. This year, the likes of Sunny
Leone, Kriti Sanon, Gauhar Khan, Amit Sadh, Lopamudra Raut and many others will
set the ramp ablaze as showstoppers.
