Vishal Rane, serves as the Assistant Professor/ Course Coordinator PGDBA – Event Management at S S Dempo College of Commerce and Economics. Café chats with this invaluable student’s resource that helps them with managing all their events

With a Master’s Degree in Business
Administration (Marketing) from Goa University and Bachelor of Commerce from S
S Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Panjim, Vishal Rane is the ever
popular professor on campus at his alma mater, where he serves as an Assistant
Professor/ Course Coordinator PGDBA – Event Management.

Speaking on his journey, the professor
says, “Teaching was always on my mind, but I had no clue as to when and where
it would start, until I got an opening to lecture on a part time basis at the
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Bicholim. On March 15, 2010, I
joined the S S Dempo College of Commerce and Economics as an Assistant
Professor and Course Coordinator for the PGDBA – Event Management programme
affiliated to Goa University. This institution has given me everything I
actually wanted in my career as I get to dabble in actual event management as
well. Since my joining the institution, I am totally engrossed in almost all
the events organised by the college. Event Management is now a hobby for me
apart from my career.  The interface and
encouragement from the college management, Principal, colleagues and the
students has been excellent and the journey till now has been very exhilarating
and successful.”

While the professor has clearly had an
eventful run at the institution, his first memorable campus experience came
during the inter-collegiate event: K-OSS 2013. Having collaborated with the
Star India Network for the first time ever, K-OSS attained an all new level of
entertainment, from production to the creativity of the performances by the
students of various colleges. Being actively involved in the organisation of
the event, Vishal knew he had found ‘his place’.

Bearing his students in mind, the professor
passes on a few pearls of wisdom that he believes will serve them in good
stead. “Being a student throughout your school and college is like preparing
yourself for a marathon which will begin only after you graduate. Focus on your
goal; study hard, because the last thing you want is to tire yourself out
before the finish line. Swami Vivekananda has rightly said, arise, awake and
stop not till the goal is reached,” he concludes.
