The Mahatma is still relevant today

Today we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti and it would be pertinent to ask the youth of today what they think about the Mahatma especially at a time when his ideas are being ignored by the political class

Remembering the history lessons I learned during my school day. It appears as if history is repeating itself. The current state after independence looks like we have moved more backwards than forward. Dadagiri, Goondagriri, inter-religious conflicts, high-unemployment rate etc. have all been on the rise. It seems like the value of democracy has been lost in our current state. It’s sad to see the ideals that our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi fought for being betrayed by our current political leaders. It’s high time that we all unite and fight following the virtues taught by Gandhi to rebuild democracy.

Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation contributed moral values and ideals of righteousness, equality and so on immensely, setting an example for many. It is indeed upsetting to sometimes see these moral principles being ignored as such, but I believe that one needs to be the change, to see it around. So, an attempt by each one of us on small levels could certainly help to promote ideas, qualities and on an overall, contribute to a good future, making India the great Again.

Mahatma Gandhi is known as the Father of our nation, his struggles, thoughts and his said words, his love for the nation gave us peace and freedom. It becomes our responsibility including the political leaders to keep his thoughts going and not disrespect what he had already done for this nation because looking at current destruction and people fighting for betterment really feels like our political leaders are really wasting the struggles, and signs left by Mahatma Gandhi.

Mahatma Gandhi once said “in a gentle way you can shake the world” We should be inspired and not underestimate ourselves and know that everyone holds the power to talk and act against the wrong and remember that little things can bring a great difference. For me The Mahatma is still relevant.

Gandhiji was a true Satyagrahi. He believed in the truth and lived by the truth. Unfortunately, today’s politicians aren’t aware of what the truth is. They make false promises to the citizens and rob us of our rights. Yet, today they will hypocritically garland the statue of Gandhiji but they will never live up to his values.
